Today’s New Covenant nugget is from Luke 24:1-3 (TPT)

Very early that Sunday morning, the women made their way to the tomb, carrying the spices they had prepared. Arriving at the tomb they discovered that the huge stone covering the entrance had been rolled aside, so they went in to look. But the tomb was empty. The body of Jesus was gone!

I remember, many years ago, being inspired by a sermon, “Sunday’s coming”. The main line of the sermon went something like this… “it’s Friday, but Sunday is a-coming!” You may be facing the most challenging time in your life; things may be very bad, ‘it’s Friday, but Sunday’s coming’.

Many times, believers face the greatest attack on their lives and in their circumstances right before their biggest breakthrough! The enemy knows that breakthrough is coming, so he brings an all out attack in your most venerable areas to get you to give up, right before breakthrough, but remember, ‘It’s Friday, but Sunday’s coming!’

The days right before David became king, he suffered his greatest challenges…

‘When David and his men returned to their homes in Ziklag, their homes had been raided by the Amalekites. They had attacked Ziklag and burned it, and had taken captive the women and everyone else in it, both young and old. They killed none of them, but carried them off as they went on their way.

David and his men were distraught wept aloud until they had no strength left to weep. David was greatly distressed because the men, his loyal mighty men of valor were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the Lord his God.’ (1 Samuel 30:1-6)

To David, it was one thing losing everything, but what really got to him was that his closest friends and followers turned on him… the devil knew exactly where to strike David to do the most damage… emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Instead of giving up, David wisely saw what the devil was up to and strengthened himself in the Lord… ‘it’s Friday, but Sunday’s coming!’

David and his men pursued the Amalekites, totally destroyed them, and took back everything that had been stolen, including many cattle, camels and much spoil… the next day King Soul died in battle and shortly after that, David became king of all Judah. Many years of being pursued by Saul… many years of living in caves, and many years of suffering character assassination by Saul had come to an end and David finally stepped into his promised destiny… had David given up in Ziklag, his men own men would have killed him and he would have been robbed of his destiny in God… remember, ‘it may be Friday, but Sunday’s a-coming!’

Don’t give up! You may be facing a challenge right now, but God is working all things together for your good! Your present test is a great testimony in the making! ‘it’s Friday, but Sunday’s coming’ – Selah!

In His amazing love, Nick
