Today’s New Covenant nugget is from Matthew 14:14

When Jesus went out, He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick.

Mark 1:41-42 - Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.” As soon as He had spoken, immediately the leprosy left him, and he was cleansed.

Jesus is FULL of the anointing of COMPASSION. The anointing of compassion regularly MOVED Jesus to minister. The same anointing that moved Him, contained miracle working POWER!

Matthew 9:10-13 (NASB) says, ‘As Jesus was reclining at the table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and began dining with Jesus and His disciples. And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to His disciples, “Why is your Teacher eating with the tax collectors and sinners? But when Jesus heard this, He said, “It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick. Now go and learn what this means: ‘I DESIRE COMPASSION, rather than sacrifice,’ for I did not come to call the [self] righteous, but sinners.”’

Jesus told the religious Pharisees to ‘go learn what it means to be compassionate’. In the same way, Jesus wants us to get a revelation on the anointing of New Covenant compassion. The opposite to compassion is a judgmental spirit. A judgmental spirit is easily offended, easily irritated, and quick to judge the hearts and the actions of others.

Jesus lovingly spent time with sinners and with people who were trapped in ungodly lifestyles. He saw them as ‘the sick, who needed a physician’, and had compassion on them. The anointing on the compassion of Jesus healed more than physical illnesses, it healed broken hearts, broken lives, and brokenness of every kind.

Sometimes compassion is the most challenging to walk in when we are dealing with those that are the closest to us… (mother, father, siblings, spouse, family). Our FLESH wants to rise up and get angry, irritated, offended and judgmental when those close to us do, or say something wrong. I have seen as little as a ‘look’ from a loved one spark anger. Some saints will worship beautifully before the Lord, and then lash out in irritation and anger as soon as they get to the church parking lot. In the light of this, Jesus said, “I desire that you have compassion, rather than sacrifice (worship.)” That is such a strong statement, but the reality is that Jesus does not want our worship if we are not willing to walk in grace, love and compassion toward one another.

Jesus gets grieved when we walk in a spirit of irritation, judgment and intolerance toward one another. Just like compassion is an anointing, and gives place to the POWER of God, a judgmental spirit that is easily irritated, angered, or offended gives place to the devil.

The anointing of compassion is POWERFUL… ask the Lord today to INCREASE your level of compassion, then walk in it by faith… especially to those that are the closest to you!

In His amazing love, Nick
