Today’s New Covenant nugget is from John 11: 25, 26, 43-44
Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die. Believest thou this? And when He thus had spoken, He cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with grave clothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, loose him, and let him go.
I was reading this passage this week and began to meditate on Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. We see in this passage, how Jesus reminds us that He is the resurrection and the life, and though Lazarus was dead, yet he would live, because Jesus is, always has been, and always will be the ‘life-giver’.
How many times in our lives don’t we come to a point of a ‘Lazarus situation’ in our lives. We just come to the end of a journey, or the end of the ability to deal with a situation… at ‘the end’ of our rope with circumstances, a financial situation, dealing with pain or sickness, or, a person in our lives that they we are dealing with. Let me remind you today of Jesus’ beautiful words, when He said, “I AM the resurrection and the life”.
When Jesus spoke life, and called Lazarus forth, Lazarus came out of his tomb, and a whole new season of his life opened up to him. No longer was he just the Lazarus that everyone knew in the past, he was the Lazarus who had been touched by Jesus, who had come back to life and whose life was made totally new. Whatever had brought death to him, was no longer resident in his body, he was made whole, and he arose in newness of life. I believe that the moment resurrection power flowed through him, new hope, new vision and a new anointing rose up in him. I believe, from that day forward he became a minister and a witness of the miracle working power of Jesus Christ in His life.
When I saw this passage this week, these prophetic words rose up in me… “No matter your situation, let Jesus breathe His life, and speak His Word over you, and call forth your ‘Lazarus’; your new day, and your new beginning, and as He does, you will rise up in newness of life and fulfill your destiny in Christ!”
Today Jesus wants to breath His life and speak His Word over your life and over your circumstances. Today, whatever has been defeating you, holding you down, or whatever is binding you… whatever has you wrapped up in burial cloths… just begin to receive Jesus’ words today, that He is the resurrection and life of your soul. Let today be a day of resurrection in your life. Resurrecting dreams, resurrecting vision and hope. Leave the cares in the tomb, like Lazarus left behind the cloth that bound him to the grave… then walk out into the light as a new day dawns.
I speak to your life today, and declare a new day, a new season, a new beginning, wholeness and life, in Jesus mighty name - Selah.
In His amazing love, Esther
