Today’s New Covenant nugget is 2 Chronicles 20:11-12

“Here they are, rewarding us by coming to throw us out of Your possession which You have given us to inherit. O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.”

Many times challenges come from multiple directions, and like Jehoshaphat and Judah, we find ourselves in a situation where we do not know what to do, so we place our eyes on the Lord and on His Word, knowing that He is bigger than what we are facing!

Three armies came against Judah with intent to kill, steal and to destroy, and to take away what the Lord had given them. Jehoshaphat and Judah knew that in their own strength that they were powerless to stand against great loss and imminent death. What can we learn from Jehoshaphat and Judah?

Their testimony goes on in verse thirteen… ‘Now all Judah, with their little ones, their wives, and their children, stood before the Lord. Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel a Levite and a prophet - and he said, “Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the Lord to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, FOR THE BATTLE IS NOT YOURS, BUT GOD’S. You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord.’

Family, good news! The battle is not yours, but God’s – you do not need to fight this battle… position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord! In situations like what we are talking about, we need to POSITION OURSELVES in faith… we need to take a winning stance in the face of challenges that are bigger than we are!

The bible says that Jehoshaphat appointed those who should sing to the Lord, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were singing: “Praise the Lord, for His mercy endures forever.” This is how we are to POSITION ourselves… ‘praising, proclaiming and praying’ – God will do the rest!

As they began to sing and to praise, THE LORD SET AMBUSHES against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated.

Like Judah, POSITION YOURSELF in faith by proclaiming the Word, by praising, and by praying the prayer of faith… do not focus on the power of the things that you are up against, focus on the POWER of God! As you do, the Lord will set ambushes against whatever is coming against you, Paul the apostle said it this way, He will work all things together for your good! You do not need to fear, fret or fight, just STAND in a position of FAITH, and then do whatever the Spirit leads you to do!!

“As Judah praised, the people of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir to utterly kill and destroy them. And when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, they helped to destroy one another. So when Judah came to a place overlooking the wilderness, they looked toward the multitude; and there were their dead bodies, fallen on the earth. No one had escaped. When Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away their spoil, they found among them an abundance of valuables on the dead bodies, and precious jewelry, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away; and they were three days gathering the spoil because there was so much.”

Family, as we position ourselves in faith, in the face of circumstantial challenges, whether it be health challenges, financial challenges, relationship challenges, challenges in our thoughts, or like in Judah’s case, all of them at once… as we POSITION OURSELVES the right way, the Lord will defeat the armies that have set out to kill, steal and destroy. We will collect the spoils - an abundance of valuables, wealth, health and blessings; more than we can carry, or contain!
