Today’s New Covenant nugget is from Isaiah 26:3 (AMP)
“You will keep in perfect and constant peace the one whose mind is steadfast [that is, committed and focused on You—in both inclination and character], because he trusts and takes refuge in You [with hope and confident expectation].
Perfect peace is the highest level of absolute peace…
It is a peace that surpasses understanding, a peace that overtakes you when, in the natural, you should be in anxiety. I often observe people’s comments on Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms… many make negative, fearful comments whenever they have an opportunity to do so – I observe this with compassion and not with judgment towards them – they are reacting in their flesh to real circumstances.
There is however a different breed of believers, they are positive, full of faith and full of joy and peace no matter what circumstances they find themselves in – they are not in denial, they are not ignorant about the potential dangers that surround them, but in spite of real problems and dangers that surround them, they are stable, strong, positive and full of faith.
The answer to PERFECT peace in the midst of challenging times is found in Isaiah 26:3… “Perfect peace has the one whose mind is fixed on Jesus”. When our minds are fixed and focused on Jesus, His Word and His covenant, then, the greater the challenge, the more faith, peace and joy.
People who are focused on circumstances, problems and what the devil may or may not do will be full of fear and full of negativity… no matter how much the people around them try to reassure them that they will be ok, they continually slip back into fear, depression, anxiety, negativity and pessimism – Until these people get full of the Word and get their focus on Jesus, nobody will be able to help them. The only thing that we can really do for these poor people is to pray for them with compassion and to break the deception over their minds, in Jesus Name!
The passion Translation says, “Perfect, absolute peace surrounds those whose imaginations are consumed with You; they confidently trust in You.” Our thoughts become our imaginations… in other words, we eventually visualize and see what we are focused on in our thinking. If you continually focus on what the devil is doing and on what negative people are saying, you will eventually start visualizing yourself in the circumstances and situations that they are predicting – on the other hand, when you focus on Jesus, His Word, and those who live and talk and plan according to His Word, you will begin to visualize and see yourself living by the Word with the promised results in the Word.
Focusing on Jesus and His Word produces confident trust and perfect peace, regardless of circumstances!
