Today’s New Covenant nugget is from Isaiah 48:17

Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you by the way you should go.

Isaiah 48:17 is referring to Jesus… Jesus is the Lord our Redeemer – His work of redemption towards us is two fold… Firstly, Jesus fully paid the price for our redemption on the cross of Calvary. Before He gave His Spirit into the Father’s hands, Jesus cried out, “Tetelestai” meaning, ‘it is finished, or, paid in full’ – Jesus fully paid for and secured our redemption on the cross of Calvary.

The second aspect of our redemption is where we get to enjoy our freedom as well as the blessings that have been given to us in Christ. Jesus did not only pay the price for our forgiveness, freedom and salvation, as our Redeemer, He is now committed and fully engaged in TEACHING us to prosper and to live under grace, and to reign as kings and priests in Him.

Many believers receive Jesus as Savior, the One who has paid the price for them to be born again, but many do not realize that Jesus is now there to teach them to profit… so, they are saved and going to heaven, but they remain ineffective in their calling, in poverty, sick, unsuccessful and powerless in life – this is not the will of God!

Through redemption, our Jesus, our Redeemer has freely given us everything that pertains to life and godliness, He has restored our favor towards the Father, and has given us favor towards all people. He has breathed life into us and flooded us with all of the grace that redemption has to offer… now, Jesus is here for you and me, through the Holy Spirit to TEACH and TRAIN us to apply what He has given us for successful living and ministry. It is one thing to be redeemed… it is another level to put our redemption into practice. Jesus is our personal trainer, He desires to teach us, to train us, and to empower us through the Holy Spirit, so that we can do all things through His strength by grace, through faith! He is committed to our success and to our prosperity.

The Passion Translation says, ‘This is what Yahweh, your Kinsman-Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel says: “I am Yahweh, your God. I am the One who teaches you how to succeed and who leads you step by step in the way you should go.’

How does Jesus teach us and train us? By the Holy Spirit, through the Word! The Holy Spirit gives revelation through the Word of God “Every scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” - 2 Timothy 3:16-17

The New Covenant is Jesus’ Word to us as believers – through it He teaches us, He trains us, He disciplines us and He corrects us as our Redeemer. The Word and the Holy Spirit work together to get us to where we need to be.

Take time every day and allow your Kinsman-Redeemer to teach you how to profit through His living Word – say, “Jesus, lead me by the Holy Spirit today as I meditate upon your Word… give me revelation concerning your precepts and train me how to operate by grace through faith, by the power of the Spirit - teach my hands to prosper and how to use what You have given me – show me who I am as a new creature in You. I receive Your correction, Your teaching and Your training through Your Word as You bring me into success and into prosperity in every area of life.”

Do not only study the Word as doctrine, let Jesus teach and train you for life and godliness through His Word – let Him transform you, equip you, empower you and let Him renew your mind through His Word as your Kinsman-Redeemer!

Blessings on you, in His amazing love, Nick
