Today’s New Covenant nugget is from Proverbs 3:9
Honor the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase.
Friends, Christmas season is a wonderful time to honor the Lord with your wealth and your ‘substance’ as the King James Version says. Christmas is the season that we celebrate the birth of Jesus, this is the season we celebrate the life He brought us.
Jesus came to bring us life and life more abundantly. Wise men came to honor Jesus at His birth, they were bringing honor to the One who would be giving them eternal life. Jesus paid for our salvation, our ‘sozo’, our deliverance, our prosperity, our provision and our healing. We truly have been given life and life beyond what we ever dared ask or think.
What does it mean to give honor to the Lord? Honor is a deep form of respect and reverence. To give honor to Jesus, is a form of worship. The wise men worshipped Jesus with their gifts.
As you sow your offerings and bring your tithes before the Lord this season, declare with your heart and words, “Lord Jesus, I worship You with my gift. You are my Prince of Peace, You are my everlasting Father, You are my Savior, You came to bring me abundant life. Thank You Jesus for Who You are. I honor You with my gift. I love You with all my heart and I declare You are Lord of Lords, King of Kings and our soon coming King – there is none but You, Jesus.”
