Today’s New Covenant nugget is from Mark 11:24
I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
Did you know that the bible tells us exactly how to pray to receive everything that we pray for?
There are so many teachings on prayer in the New Covenant... that is because prayer is a HUGE part in receiving our inheritance in Christ. When believers think about the New Covenant ‘prayer teaching’ in the bible, many instantly think about what they call ‘The Lord’s prayer’ or the ‘our Father’, which is not really a New Covenant teaching on prayer at all. It is Jesus teaching the Jews how to pray under the Old Covenant.
Jesus does however teach New Covenant prayer... many more teachings are in New Covenant as well, from the book of Acts to Revelation. There are many kinds of New Covenant prayers including praying in the Spirit, intercessory prayer, the prayer of consecration, the prayer of petition, the prayer of supplication, the prayer of faith and more...
Today’s teaching is on the prayer of supplication by faith, or the prayer of asking in faith.
PRAYER RECEIVES AND BRINGS TO MANIFESTATION WHAT HAS ALREADY BEEN GIVEN...
2 Peter 1:3 - His divine power has (already) given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue.
WE HAVE ALREADY BEEN GIVEN EVERYTHING THAT WE COULD EVER NEED THROUGH CHRIST, IN THE NEW COVENANT.
Healing, divine health, provision, wisdom, ability and ALL that we need for life and for ministry has already been given to us as believers in the New Covenant through Christ.
The prayer of supplication, or asking by faith is about receiving and bringing what we have in Christ into manifestation in our lives, not getting God to do something. Jesus has already done it all, and has already FULLY provided every need... He provided ALL of our needs when He established the New Covenant over 2000 years ago on Calvary!
PRAYER DOES NOT PERSUADE GOD, PRAYER DOES NOT ‘GET GOD’ TO DO SOMETHING, OR GIVE SOMETHING, PRAYER RECEIVES WHAT IS ALREADY OURS!
UNANSWERED PRAYER...
Not every prayer is answered... this is one of the reasons that there are so many teachings on prayer in the New Covenant. The prayer of supplication is not complicated, however there is a right and a wrong way to pray.
James 4:2-3 says, You lust (have carnal desires) and do not have. You murder (destroy) and covet (want what others have) and cannot obtain. You fight (argue) and war (participate in strife). Yet you do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss (because you ask the wrong way), that you may spend it on your own (fleshly) pleasures.
Here, the Word teaches us that you can pray and NOT receive what you are asking for...
PRAYER IS NOT A SLOT MACHINE TO GET GOD TO GIVE YOU WHAT YOUR FLESH WANTS!
PEOPLE WRONGLY ASK GOD FOR EVERYTHING FROM OTHER PEOPLE’S SPOUSES, TO ASKING TO WIN THE LOTTERY...
THREE WRONG WAYS TO ASK GOD FOR SOMETHING IN PRAYER...
1. ASKING FOR SOMETHING THAT YOUR FLESH WANTS BUT YOUR SPIRIT REJECTS...
“Lord, I am going to buy this on credit, I now claim every payment by faith, in Jesus Name”
2. NOT ASKING ACCORDING TO THE WORD
1 John 5:14-15 - Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask (require by faith) anything according to His will (His Word), He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
3. NOT ASKING IN FAITH
Matthew 21:22 - And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing (Fully persuaded in faith), you will receive.”
James 1:5-7 - If any of you lacks wisdom (If anyone lacks anything), let him ask (require by faith) of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord.
ASKING IN A WAY THAT WILL RECEIVE AND BRING YOUR PROMISE INTO MANIFESTATION
John 14:13-14 - And whatever you ask (require by faith) in My Name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask (require by faith) anything in My name, I will do it.
TO ASK IS TO REQUIRE BY FAITH...
The bible says in the New Covenant that if you do not pray in faith you WILL NOT receive anything from the Lord! A prayer of supplication is a prayer of faith!
The Greek word translated as ‘ask’ is ‘aitéō’ it can also be translated as ‘require by faith, call for by faith, command by faith, or, demand by faith’. We do not ‘ask’ in the sense that God has something that we want Him to give us, we ‘ask’ by thanking Him for what He has already given and then receiving it by faith!
THIS IS NOT COMMANDING GOD, THIS IS COMMANDING HIS PROMISE TO MANIFEST IN YOUR LIFE!
The Lord wants us to require, command and demand that His promises manifest in our lives.
Again, you are not commanding God, you are insistent that what He has promised will manifest in your life!
REQUIRING, OR DEMANDING THAT GOD’S WORD MANIFEST IN YOUR LIFE PLEASES GOD! IT IS NOT ARROGANT, IT IS HUMILITY.
GETTING THE WORD PLANTED ON THE INSIDE OF YOU IS KEY!
John 15:7 (TPT) - But if you live in life-union with Me and if My words live powerfully (take hold) within you—then you can ask (require by faith) whatever you desire and it will be done.
We have to meditate upon the Word and sow the Word into our innermost beings until the Word is PLANTED deeply within our souls. Jesus said ‘IF’ My words live and ‘take hold’ in you, THEN you can require by faith whatever you desire and it will be done.
When we pray the prayer of supplication, we should pray, speak and declare the Word in our innermost beings out of our mouths in faith. When we do that, we are praying in a way that will have guaranteed results.
THE WORD PRODUCES FAITH
THE WORD PRODUCES DESIRE
GOD WATCHES OVER HIS WORD TO PERFORM IT!
SPEAK THE WORD TO YOUR BODY, YOUR RELATIONSHIPS, YOUR FINANCES AND YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES AND BELIEVE YOU RECEIVE WHEN YOU PRAY!
PRAY THIS PRAYER OF FAITH...
“FATHER, YOUR WORD IS PLANTED IN ME AND I HAVE EMBRACED IT!
I NOW REQUIRE YOUR PROMISES TO MANIFEST IN MY LIFE, IN JESUS NAME!
I COMMAND MY BODY, MY RELATIONSHIPS, MY FINANCES AND MY CIRCUMSTANCES TO BE ACCORDING TO YOUR WORD, IN JESUS NAME!
ACCORDING TO YOUR WORD, I AM WHOLE, I LIVE IN DIVINE HEALTH, I AM PROSPEROUS, I AM PROTECTED AND I AM BLESSED WITH EVERY BLESSING, IN JESUS NAME!
I RECEIVE YOUR PROMISES IN YOUR WORD RIGHT NOW IN JESUS NAME!
EVERY PROMISE IN YOUR WORD FOR ME MANIFESTS IN MY LIFE IN YOUR PERFECT TIMING, IN JESUS NAME!
I THANK YOU THAT YOU WATCH OVER YOUR WORD TO PERFORM IT IN MY LIFE, IN JESUS NAME, AMEN!”
