The Lord does not want us to be ignorant when it comes to spiritual things and the operation of the Holy Spirit through us. As we begin our study on the gifts of the Spirit, ask the Holy Spirit to give you revelation knowledge. Use your faith and desire the best gifts for you. The best gifts for you are the ones that you need for your specific calling. Today we are going to study three gifts of the Spirit… the word of wisdom, the word of knowledge and the gift of faith.
THE WORD OF WISDOM AND THE WORD OF KNOWLEDGE
THE WORD OF KNOWLEDGE IS THE SUPERNATURAL ABILITY TO DISCERN AND THEN IMPART DIVINE TRUTH THROUGH ANOINTED WORDS - THE WORD OF WISDOM IS THE SUPERNATURAL ABILITY TO ARTICULATE A DIVINE REVELATION OF THAT DIVINE TRUTH AND THEN ACTIVATE IT IN A BELIEVER’S LIFE.
In other words, the word of knowledge communicates and imparts the truth by the power of the Spirit, and the word of wisdom receives, then imparts revelation knowledge concerning divine truth, resulting in that divine truth being lived out. The word of knowledge has an anointing to bring clear understanding of a biblical truth - the Word of wisdom has an anointing to go beyond understanding to seeing, and then doing.
For example… knowledge would be clearly understanding all of the principles behind driving a car after studying the manual – wisdom, in the biblical sense is having the knowledge, then watching someone drive a car and then being taught to drive the car, sitting in the driver’s seat. In other words, the word of wisdom is the impartation of revelation and ability to implement the knowledge that you have.
THE GIFT OF FAITH
THE GIFT OF FAITH IS TOTAL THE SUPERNATURAL IMPARTATION OF ABSOLUTE TRUST, BEING FULLY PERSUADED THAT GOD IS WILLING, ABLE AND COMMITTED TO PERFORM HIS WORD.
Bible faith comes from hearing and hearing the Word. The gift of faith on the other hand comes as the Spirit manifests the gift through the yielded believer. The gift of faith is the highest level of faith.
Knowledge of Truth comes by studying the Word and renewing your mind. The ‘word of knowledge’ comes as the Spirit manifests the gift through the yielded believer. The word of knowledge is the highest, clearest impartation of divine truth.
Wisdom comes from asking the Lord in faith for wisdom and revelation. ‘The word of wisdom’ comes as the Spirit manifests the gift through the yielded believer. The word of wisdom is the highest level of the impartation of revelation leading to application.
THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT ARE NOT EARNED, THEY ARE FREELY GIVEN BY THE HOLY SPIRIT.
1 Corinthians 12:31-13:1 says to earnestly desire (have faith to receive) the best gifts – so, we have faith for the best gifts and then we receive them from the Holy Spirit when He believes that we are ready for them. Then after that, He will teach us how to operate in our gifts!
