Today’s New Covenant nugget is from Ephesians 1:17-18 (TPT)
I pray that the Father of glory, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, would impart to you the riches of the Spirit of wisdom and the Spirit of revelation to know Him through your deepening intimacy with Him. I pray that the light of God will illuminate the eyes of your imagination, flooding you with light, until you experience the full revelation of the hope of His calling…
As I said in yesterday’s teaching… revelation comes before operation – in other words, we need to have our spiritual eyes opened to receive revelation and understanding concerning the Word, who we are in Christ, Who Christ is in us and how He wants to operate through us before we can fully receive and appropriate His promises.
Meditating on the Word leads to revelation...
Ephesians 1:17 says that the Father of glory will give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation ‘in the knowledge of Jesus’... the knowledge of Jesus implies knowing Jesus intimately as translated in the Passion Translation and we get to know Him intimately through prayer, worship and by meditating upon the Word which is Jesus’ talking to us in written form as believers. The Word is ‘God breathed’ (2 Timothy 3:16-17) – in other words, the Word is the literal spoken words of Jesus in written form – it does not only contain the Word of God, it is the Word of God. As we meditate upon His living New Covenant Word, revelation is imparted.
The children of Israel did not cross over to and receive their promise because of fear - they were in fear because they did not have revelation - that is why the Lord instructed Joshua to tell them to meditate on the Word day and night! After scriptural meditation, they received revelation and with revelation, they were able to cross over and receive their promise.
Meditating on the Word includes studying, pondering deeply over scriptures, speaking and confessing them out loud and declaring scripture in prayer repeatedly. As you meditate upon the Word, as the Holy Spirit to impart revelation. As an example, take the scripture, ‘God is love’, and speak it out several times… then ask the Holy Spirit, “Holy Spirit, give a revelation on the fact that God is love” – then pray in the Spirit while at the same time listening to the Holy Spirit – then speak it out again several times – then worship the Lord – then listen to your spirit… repeat this over and over again – then give all of your thoughts and studies over to Jesus and rest - this is scriptural meditation! As you do this continually for hours every week and as you include meditation as a part of your daily spiritual walk, revelation upon revelation will manifest.
There are times when I have meditated upon something, turned it over to Jesus and started studying something else, when in the midst of my study, revelation bursts forth in the area that I have given to the Lord – then I stop everything and begin to write down the revelation – sometimes the revelation wakes me up in the middle of the night, or sometimes it happens when I am driving… I immediately pull over, sit up in bed, or stop doing what I was doing and write down the revelation – then as soon as I have time, I open the Word and ask the Holy Spirit to expound.
What I have just described is such an exciting journey! Remember, revelation comes before operation, so begin to pursue revelation each and every day –your life will be redefined through revelation and you will begin to function on another level in Christ and in your calling!
Blessings on you, Nick
