Today’s New Covenant nugget is from 1 Corinthians 13 (AMP)
If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love [for others growing out of God’s love for me], then I have become only a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal [just an annoying distraction]. And if I have the gift of prophecy [and speak a new message from God to the people], and understand all mysteries, and [possess] all knowledge; and if I have all [sufficient] faith so that I can remove mountains, but do not have love [reaching out to others], I am nothing. If I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it does me no good at all.
Love endures with patience and serenity, love is kind and thoughtful. And now there remain: faith [abiding trust in God and His promises], hope [confident expectation of eternal salvation], love [unselfish love for others growing out of God’s love for me], these three [the choicest graces]; but the greatest of these is love.
I don’t know about you, but I desire my life to be surrounded with people who love me. Just the same way, God has called me and you to walk in love towards those He has placed in our lives. Life can get so busy – but never let your life get that busy, where you can’t stop to love on someone, or where you can’t make time to stop and show someone God’s love through you.
I am often reminded of my dad. He loved helping people. Even in his mid-eighties, he would be driving the elderly to a bank or running errands for the elderly or for those in need – he always made time for others and often put the needs of others before his own needs… yet into his nineties, he never was in lack, never was in need and was driving himself around in his own car till two weeks before he passed on to glory.
When you see a person in need, ask the Holy Spirit to show you where and how you should be involved in showing His love. He may lead you to just say a prayer for that person, or He may lead you to make a phone call to check up on that person… or He may lead you to get more involved - sometimes it’s taking someone a meal, or taking someone out for a meal. Stay in communion with the Holy Spirit, yielded to Him and His love, He will show you how to let His love shine through you!
Meditate upon Jesus’ love for you, meditate on how He gave everything for you, meditate on His unconditional, unending love… receive it, and as you receive it, let His love flow through you to others in prayers, acts of kindness and in relationship – listen to the song below and receive His love, then let that same love flow through you to others!
Blessings on you, Esther
