Today’s devotion is from Philippians 4:15-19 (TPT)

15-16 For I want you to know that the Philippian church was the only church that supported me in the beginning as I went out to preach the gospel. You were the only church that sowed into me financially, and when I was in Thessalonica, you supported me for well over a year.

17-18 I mention this not because I’m requesting a gift, but so that the fruit of your generosity may bring you an abundant reward. I now have all I need—more than enough—I’m abundantly satisfied! For I’ve received the gift you sent by Epaphroditus and viewed it as a sweet sacrifice, perfumed with the fragrance of your faithfulness, which is so pleasing to God!

19 I am convinced that my God will fully satisfy every need you have, for I have seen the abundant riches of glory revealed to me through the Anointed One, Jesus Christ!

Philippians 4:15-19 is a powerful New Covenant nugget that teaches the significance of sowing into and partnering with those that you are called to. The classic addition Amplified Bible words it this way, ‘No church (assembly) entered into partnership with me and opened up [a debit and credit] account in giving and receiving except you only…’

Paul goes on to share the benefit of sowing into a person or a team that you are called to partner with and be a part of… Paul shares that this is not about his need, but the needs of those sowing into him – ‘I mention this not because I’m requesting a gift, but so that the fruit of your generosity may bring you an abundant reward.’ Paul goes on to say, “I am convinced that my God will fully satisfy every need you have, for I have seen the abundant riches of glory revealed to me through the Anointed One, Jesus Christ!”

When we sow financial seed and come into a covenant partnership with the spiritual leader or leaders that we are called to, then we open up the door to receive an abundant reward – we open up a door to receive provision for every need according to His riches in glory!

This scripture is specifically referring to financial sowing, but I really believe that it applies to every kind of sowing… sowing help, labor, time, expertise and sowing into whatever need there is! I also believe that even though this scripture is talking specifically about sowing into and partnering with the spiritual leader that we are called to, that is also applies to sowing into every person that you are called to as the Spirit leads.

I sow financially into my spiritual leaders and I also sow financially and in every way that I can into everybody that I am called to and into everybody that is called to me. I get up at 3am on a Sunday to get ready to serve our people in setting up our church, to making sure that the setup team has breakfast and coffee… I then put on my pastor hat and serve the people spiritual food and minister to their needs – throughout the week Esther and I continue to serve those that we are called to and those that are called to us… we are continually sowing seeds of love, of service, of labor, of prayer, of declaring words of life as well as financial seeds.

When you sow into a leader or a person that you are called to, then you are guaranteed to reap abundant blessings. When we have a guest speaker, we always sow into his or her ministry… not because they need it, but because we need the fruit that comes from sowing into them and into their anointing.

Pray about increasing your sowing into those that you are called to. Pray and ask the Holy Spirit how you can help lift up the hands of the team that God has made you a part of – look for needs in the lives of your team members and trust the Lord to be used to meet those needs out of your overflow as the Lord meets your needs, in Jesus Name!
