Today’s devotion is from Matthew 4:4

Jesus said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”

Your physical body depends, in part on daily nutrition, but your soul and your spirit and even your body needs more that physical food, your soul, spirit and body needs the Word of God to survive and to thrive!

Many of the problems that people face are Word deficit problems. Depression, fear, restlessness, worry and sickness could all be symptoms of a lack of Word. If we don’t eat, we get weak and experience fatigue, headaches and recognizable physical symptoms, but many times we do not recognize that the source of the other symptoms we are experiencing are a lack of Word.

Some people go to counseling, get onto Prozac and take all kinds of medication to help them sleep, then to help them wake up and then more to help sharpen their brains when the real problem is a lack of the Word of God.

The Word imparts strength, power, ability, health, energy, peace, joy and wholeness to our spirits, our souls and our bodies. Reading the Word, studying the Word, meditating on the Word, speaking the Word and listening to the Word being preached and taught is vital to your total wellbeing. Take time every day to get the living, powerful Word into you, and remember what Jesus said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”
