Today’s devotion is the message from Nicholas Van Rensburg in written form – I am going to divide this powerful teaching into two devotions.
The devotion for today comes from Psalm 34:8
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good.
Taste is an experience, see is perception – you’ll see what you experience, and you will experience what you see - as you encounter Him your perception opens…
Many believers have a false perception of the Lord, a big part of that is that they have not experienced the Lord, they have not ‘tasted and seen’ for themselves that the Lord is good!
Are you experiencing the goodness of God in your life? Do you see the goodness of God in your life? Press into God until you experience Him – press into Him until you have an encounter – when you encounter the Lord, you will taste and see His goodness and you will never be the same again!
From the very beginning God designed the earth for us to experience His goodness…
Genesis 1:1-2 says, ‘In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darknesswas on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.’Genesis 1:1-2 is a perfect representation of your life before you met Christ, your life without Christ is formless, void and full of darkness.
When you have a God encounter everything changes, you are no longer void, you are no longer empty, and you are no longer lost – After a God encounter your life takes form, life has meaning and excitement, vision and wholeness floods you! If you as a believer feel void and you have no direction, you need a God encounter!
In Genesis 1:3-4 God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good…
As God created the earth, He was demonstrating His goodness towards us! Gen. 1:10, 12, 18, 21 and 25 all say, “God saw that it was good.” Then in Gen 1:31 it says, ‘Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good.’ - It was very good!!
From the beginning of creation God has been revealing His goodness towards us and mankind has been experiencing the goodness of God…
Now check this out - the very first attack against mankind…
Genesis 3:1-5 “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?” And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’ Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
Satan’s first attack was deceiving Eve causing her to doubt the goodness of God and to question His promise and His intentions! Do not ever allow doubt to enter when it comes to God, His motives or His intentions. When Adam and Eve became deceived and doubted the goodness of God, they gave place to the devil to steal their destiny!
God is always good, and His intentions are always for our good, so when He tells us ‘no’ it is for our protection, not to deprive us! If you are wanting something today, and God is saying, ‘no’, walk away, trust in His goodness and never give place to the devil by questioning the Lord or His Word! He is good, all the time and He is always trying to lead us and keep us on His pathway of life and blessings!
