Today’s devotion is from Proverbs 14:12
There is a way that seems right to a man,but its end is the way of death.
If you make decisions based on logic alone you may totally miss God…
Just because something is logical, just because it looks good and just because it feels right does not mean that it is right – good is not always God! The job that meets your budget, has the nicest boss and offers the most benefits may look like a much better option that a job that pays too little, has limited benefits and has a grouchy boss… it may look better on the surface, but it may not be the right job for you. The Holy Spirit may lead you to something that seems illogical and unappealing at first, and then turns out to be the greatest blessing that you have ever experienced. Good is not always God.
The Bible says that God’s children are led by the Spirit…
God knows the end from the beginning and he also knows when the shining red apple is sour and has worms and when the dinged up, dull apple is sweet and delicious. He knew that Saul the murderer would later become Paul the Apostle and He knew when Joseph was thrown into the pit to die, that He would be raised up to run the nation of Egypt. The Spirit led way is always the right way, regardless of logic!
There are many good ideas, but they may not be God ideas…
What works for one person, may not work for another – that is why you need to be very couscous in receiving counsel. I very rarely advise people – instead I teach them to follow the Holy Spirit, to listen to the voice of God and to do things according to the New Covenant Word. The Lord may lead you to avoid the shortcut and to take the long way around… He knows the end from the beginning, so we need to trust His leading and look for His leading in everything.
Yield to the Holy Spirit in all things…
Take the time to wait upon the Lord, especially in the small things – that’s where most people miss it, they only pray about the big things. I pray about everything and wait upon the Lord in everything, especially the small things. I move a little slower, but when I move, I move with faith, resolve, passion, strength, power and authority. Let the Holy Spirit become your GPS – let Him lead you in all things, in every word that you say, in every decision that you make and in every task that you undertake – make the effort to be yielded to the Spirit, and the Spirit will lead you onto the path of life!
