Today’s devotion is from Deuteronomy 31:8

And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.

The reason the Lord says that He will not leave us and for us not to fear is because as we follow Him, we are going to go through some stuff… we are going to face some giants and we are going to encounter things that will cause fear if we get out of faith. Following the Lord is a road that is filled with opportunities to fear, to have anxiety and to be discouraged. Everything on His road is bigger than we are, smarter than we are and stronger than we are in the natural. His path is specifically designed to require His miracle working power every step along the way.

Isaiah 43:2 says, ‘When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.’ The children of Israel had to pass through the sea and through the river Jordan, not around them. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego had to pass through the fire, not around it… It is a very rare thing for the Lord to take His children ‘around’ stuff, His way is almost always ‘through’.

The Lord’s path for David was through the bear, through the Lion and through the giant… His path for Joseph was through the pit, through slavery and through prison to the palace. Even Jesus went through tests and trials, through temptation, through the garden of anxiety and through the cross of Calvary. The Lord does not put us on this path to torture us, He puts us on it to show Himself strong on our behalf, to turn our tests into testimonies, to turn our battles into victories and to turn our trials into triumphs.

When the Lord gives you an assignment, God does not expect you to do it in your own strength.

He gives the power as well as the plan that goes with the assignment. He gives supernatural ability, knowledge, wisdom, favor, grace, power, might and anointing to do what He has called you to do.

As you face the giants on your divine assignment; KNOW that He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed! His yoke destroying, bondage breaking, strength giving ability, power and might is causing everything to work together for your good right now. By faith, enter into His rest right now and get ready your sea to be parted and for your enemies to be defeated - Selah
