Today’s devotion is from Luke 4:18-19
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,because He has anointed Meto preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Meto heal the brokenhearted,to proclaim liberty to the captivesand recovery of sight to the blind,to set at liberty those who areoppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
Jesus ‘proclaimed’ things into existence, He set free and delivered those in bondage, He cast out devils, He opened blind eyes and healed the sick, He healed the brokenhearted and He preached good news to those in lack; and He did it all by the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit.
Now, if Jesus needed the anointed power of the Holy Spirit to be effective in ministry, how does any individual think that they can be effective in anything without the anointed power of the Holy Spirit? The good news is, that the same powerful anointing that raised Jesus from the dead, the same powerful anointing that enabled Jesus to raise the dead, and the same powerful anointing that supernaturally gave Jesus the ability to walk on water in now available to us as His body.
Jesus said that the works that He did, we will do also, then He said that the Holy Spirit would help us to do it. He would teach us, train us and impart supernatural ability to us to do what Jesus did the way that Jesus did it. The power-impartation of the Holy Spirit is the anointing.
Armed with the anointing you too can proclaim a thing and see it established. By the anointing you can follow in Jesus footsteps and continue His work; opening blind eyes delivering captives, raising the dead, casting out devils and ministering in power with signs, wonders and miracles following. As a Spirit filled believer, receive the anointed power of the Holy Ghost today and then let it flow out of you like a river to a lost and dying world – Selah
