Today’s devotion is from 1 Corinthians 14:2,4
For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.
Everytime we spend time with the Lord in worship, prayer and in meditation on the Word we increase the level of anointing on our lives, however, one of the most powerful, effective ways to increase the anointing is by praying in the Spirit with our Heavenly language.
The Apostle Paul, under the direction of the Holy Spirit tells the church in Corinth that when they speak in tongues they speak mysteries in the spirit and that they EDIFY themselves. When we speak in tongues we literally increase the anointing on our lives into an edifice, [a huge structure] in the realm of the spirit. The ‘himself’ that Paul is referring to is our spirit man together with the anointing. Legends in the faith like Smith Wigglesworth and Kathryn Kuhlman would pray in tongues for hours each and every day and the anointing upon their lives was truly an edifice!
Jesus told His disciples to wait in Jerusalem until they were filled with power from on high.
When the day of Pentecost came they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Speaking in tongues and the anointing of power go hand in glove. The Bible tells us that death and life are in the power of the tongue and when a believer speaks or prays in their heavenly language they are speaking 100% life, they are declaring the perfect will of God over their lives, they are speaking 100% faith over every situation, and they are building the anointing on their lives into an edifice!
Set aside time to pray in the Holy Ghost today, speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives you utterance and watch the anointing upon your life increase and increase.
If you have not yet been baptized in the Spirit and have not yet received your Heavenly language, ask Jesus today to baptize you with the Holy Ghost and fire. (Matthew 3:11)
