Today's devotion is from Galatians 5:16 (AMP)
But I say, walk habitually in the [Holy] Spirit [seek Him and be responsive to His guidance], and then you will certainly not carry out the desire of the sinful nature [which responds impulsively without regard for God and His precepts].
God is Spirit and we know Him by the Spirit, we love Him by the Spirit, and we receive from Him by the Spirit because of what Jesus did on the cross for us. When we first received the finished work of Jesus on the cross and His love extended towards us, our spirits were made alive to Him and our walk with Him in the realm of the Spirit became a reality.
When we spend time with Him, wait on Him, yield to His leading, pray to Him in the Spirit, (Spirit prayer) He leads us and speaks to us by His spirit in our Spirit Man. He is always on time and in time.
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. - 1 Corinthians 2:12-14
We follow the leading of the Spirit on a day-to-day basis… it’s our safety net – that’s why it’s important to build up your spirit man.
· Follow His promptings
· Stay in His peace (don’t get your feather’s all ruffled by silly stuff)
· Live in His Presence – (Keep your thoughts aware of His presence within)
· Keep Faith stirred up in your heart
· Pray in the Spirit when you can and in pray in the understanding when you can
· Don’t get offended at people
· Walk in Love and forgiveness towards others
· Keep the mind of Christ in all you do each day
· Stay in Philippians 4:8
· Keep hope alive in You (never lose hope)
· Smile and let the Spirit of God live in you and shine through you to others
PRAYER
Father, I thank You that the minute that I received You, I became spiritually alive. By Your grace I walk in the Spirit as the Holy Spirit leads me. I have the mind of Christ. I have spiritual discernment and I know what the will of God is, in Jesus Name!
Your inexpressible joy fills my life and I am always forever changed by Your Spirit that is alive in Me. Because of You Jesus, I have hope and my spirit is alive in You”
