Today’s New Covenant nugget is from John 10:27

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

I trust that you have enjoyed my series on hearing the voice of God and being Spirit led. Today’s devotion is the last of my five-part series… please enjoy this in the context of the other devotions.

Today I will be sharing a nugget that Esther and I always use when it comes to significant decisions. 2 Corinthians 13:1 says, “By the mouth of two or three witnesses every word shall be established.” After we have prayed and both of us have come into agreement on what we believe concerning the Lord’s leading, we submit what we believe to be God to two or three spiritually mature individuals that we respect and trust.

It is always possible to miss something, no matter how spiritually developed that you are. The Lord speaks and leads us regarding ‘what’ He is leading us to do, or what He is telling us… He leads us in ‘how’ we are to implement it, He leads us ‘when’ the timing is, He leads us ‘where’ to do it, and He may give other conditions to look for… what, how, when, where and under what conditions.

Many times believers hear God concerning the ‘what’, but miss Him in the how, when, where and what conditions to look for… the how, when, where and conditions are every bit as important as the ‘what’. This is why it is a good thing to submit important things to others… when you do, always let them know that you would like them to pray about all areas… the what, the how, the when, the where and the conditions. Tell them that you are not asking for council, or their opinion… you are asking for them to ask the Lord and to help confirm the leading of the Lord.

I thank God that we have done this over the years… including other people of like faith, spiritual maturity and of a proven spiritual track record in our descisions has saved us from making many needless mistakes. You can always reserve the right to discard what they are saying, but if you do, do it with the utmost caution. Most of the time the Holy Spirit will supernaturally confirm His leading through two or three witnesses… He always has for us.

In His amazing love, Nick
