Today’s New Covenant nugget is from Romans 5:17
For if by the one man’s sin, death reigned through the one, much more will those who receive an abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.
Because of the abundance of grace and righteousness given to us in Christ, we are called and equipped to reign in this life as kings and priests through Jesus!
KINGS AND PRIESTS REIGN BY DECREE!
Job 22:28 - You will also decree a thing, and it will be established for you; so light will shine on your ways.
Leviticus 27:12 - The priest shall set a value for it, whether it is good or bad; as you, the priest, value it, so it shall be.
AS PRIESTS IN CHRIST, AS WE VALUE A THING, SO IT IS…
Value, or (determine how) whatever you are facing should be, [by revelation, according to the Word], then, BY FAITH decree what you see in the Word, according to your New Covenant in Christ.
Let me give you an example… someone in pain goes to the doctor… the doctor gives them a bad report, that the pain that they are feeling is a tumor, and that they only have a short time to live and to get their affairs in order. As a believer, that person now VALUES, or assess the pain in their body and the doctors report according to the Word. The ASSESSMENT of the Word is that ‘by the stripes of Jesus they are healed’. The believer now comes in agreement with the assessment of the Word, and VALUES what they are facing according to the Word… Then they DECREE, “By the stripes of Jesus I am healed, I am pain free, cancer free, healthy and whole and I fully expect to live long and prosper, in Jesus Name!” As a king and a priest in Christ, as they VALUE a thing, so it is!
Now, let’s look at how Jesus taught us to reign in life by ‘command, decree’…
In Mark 11:22-24, Jesus answers the disciples question and explains how that He SPOKE death to the fig tree, causing it to die and dry up from the roots – Jesus begins His answer in verse 22… “And Jesus answered and said to them, have ye the faith of God” - Mark 11:22 (Wycliffe Bible) A literal translation would be, “Jesus said, use your faith in the same way that God uses His faith” – Jesus was giving them a lesson on how to use their faith as kings and priests…
Jesus goes on to answer their question in Mark 11:23-24… “For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to (commands by decree) this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. (commands by decree) Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask (require by decree) when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”
The Greek word for ‘says’ translated contextually is ‘command’, or ‘command by decree’ – the Greek word for ‘ask’ contextually translated is ‘require by command decree’. Jesus killed the fig tree by command decree – as New Covenant believers, we will have what we say (by command decree), as Jesus did. When we use our faith in the same way that Jesus did when He spoke to the fig tree, we should expect the same results, as we speak the Word over whatever we are facing.
Add command decrees to your daily walk… speak to and over things, situations and projects BEFORE you act…
Jesus ‘spoke’ TO the fig tree, spoke TO sickness, spoke TO the storm, spoke TO the lame man, and spoke TO spirits of infirmity… He PROCLAIMED the acceptable year of the Lord, and He raised Lazarus from the dead by command decree; and then He said, “the works that I do, you shall do also.” He even went as far as teaching us to reign in life by command decree in Mark 11:22-24.
Make decrees as you start your day with communion; decree written, memorized, as well as spontaneous decrees as a part of your daily devotion. Speak and make decrees over your personal health, your mental state of mind, your emotions, marriage, family and finances. Make a decree over every project and over every meeting that you are planning to have. Decree that you are strong in the Lord, anointed, full of wisdom, that you will walk in the Spirit and have the fruit of the Spirit operating in your life… when you make these decrees first thing in the morning as you partake of communion, your day and your circumstances will follow your decrees of faith!
Make decrees all day long as you face things… this is your time to RULE by decree!
1 Timothy 6:12 says to fight the good fight of faith, to lay hold of eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses – The way that we fight is by decree, by declaration, by our confession of faith… speaking the Word and calling those things that are not as though they were by the decree of a king and a priest in Christ.
In His amazing love, Nick
