Today’s New Covenant nugget is from John 6:28-29
Then they said to Jesus, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?” Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”
Jesus’ followers wanted to ‘work’ the works of God… the Old Covenant was all about ‘works’, but the New Covenant is all about ‘FAITH’. Jesus said to them, “This is the ‘work’ of God, ‘that you believe’ in Him whom He sent” – in other words ‘having faith in Jesus’ is our primary function as New Covenant believers… “the just shall live by faith!”
What they were really asking Jesus is, “How can we work miracles like You Jesus? How can we walk on water, how can we multiply loaves and fish, how can we open blind eyes and how can we cause the lame to walk like you do Jesus? What did You ‘DO’ to get Your miracle working power? Instead of Jesus giving a formula, or telling them to fast, or to do certain things to go to another spiritual level, Jesus told them that ‘HE’ was the door to the supernatural… ‘HE’ was the source, the key and the embodiment of what they were seeking.
Jesus is still the answer! He is all we need… He is all you need! Place your trust in Jesus… BELIEVE in Him. In Him is life, and provision, and healing, and freedom… everything that you need is in Christ! Look to Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith, trust Jesus… have faith in Him – seek Him out, spend time with Him and rely on Him.
People ask, what do I have to do to get to the next level, to be used of the Lord in a greater way, what do I have to do??? – Here is Jesus’ answer to you… “it’s not about ‘doing’, it’s about believing, it’s about faith, it’s about trusting… it’s about your relationship with Me, not a list of religious works”.
Only Believe!
