The Lord has a promise for you out of His Word that when you delight yourself in Him, He will provide for you what you desire the most. The Amplified Translation reads “Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires and petitions of your heart.”
You may say, “how do I delight myself in Him, how do I make the Lord the utmost delight and pleasure of my life?” Well, if you put a smile on your face, let your eyes light up and begin to declare with your mouth and believe in your heart that God is for you… that He loves you, that He provides for you, that He is mighty and faithful, and worthy of all your praise – as you meditate upon and speak about His goodness and His kindness, you will find yourself, being delighted and happy in who you are in Christ.
Delightful praise changes that atmosphere around you. If you will allow your mouth and heart to delight in the Lord and declare His praises… the Word tells us that God inhabits the praises of His people, so as you continue in delightful, heartfelt praise, you will begin to experience the manifest presence of God all around you at all times.
Folks, it’s that easy to step into the presence of God. Determine today, that you will delight yourself in Him. I like how The Passion Translation says, ‘MAKE God the utmost delight and pleasure of your life’ – that tells me it’s a choice, a doing word, and an action word - a ‘choice’ and an ‘action’ working together… “MAKE” God the utmost delight of your life.
I believe the reason we see Him give us the desires of our heart is because when we begin to verbally express our joy in loving and serving and worshipping God and truly live a life of delighting ourselves in Him, His desires become our desires. He puts within us the very things we desire and then as His promise unfolds, we see the petitions and desires we desire, manifest. As this happens, the Lord get’s all the Glory and Praise, because we know that He is the One that has brought it to pass and not us - make God the utmost delight and pleasure of your life, and He will provide for you what you desire the most - Selah.
