Today’s New Covenant nugget is from Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.
The Greek word translated as ‘faithfulness’ is ‘pístis’ – this is the same word that is mostly translated as ‘faith’ – (Now ‘FAITH’ is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen – Hebrews 11:1)
In English faith and faithfulness have different meanings… to have ‘faith’ is trust someone and to be faithful is to be loyal. The Greek word ‘pístis’ encompasses both meanings… if you are loyal and faithful, you will have faith in that person. Loyalty, or faithfulness leads to faith! Disloyalty, or unfaithfulness leads to lack of faith.
Many people who struggle with faith towards the Lord have been unfaithful to Him – they have blamed Him for things and have falsely accused Him and have not been loyal towards Him. Those that have been faithful and loyal, and those that have defended the Lord and not blamed Him for things that they may not understand have a high level of faith. Faithfulness leads to great faith.
Faithfulness in going to church, praying, worshipping, giving, tithing, witnessing, prioritizing the Lord and faithfulness in doing the work of the ministry leads to FAITH in God and in His Word.
