Today’s New Covenant nugget is from 1 Corinthians 1:18

The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

What is the message of the cross?

In short, the message of the cross is that Jesus fully paid the price for our salvation on the cross of Calvary. He who knew no sin became sin on the cross and endured the wrath of God because of our sin, so that we would become the righteousness of God in Him.

The message of the cross is that Jesus did it all! He did what no other could do when He allowed Himself to be hung on a cross to pay the price for the sins of all humanity. Jesus was stripped, beaten beyond recognition and endured unspeakable physical pain, but that was the least of the great price that He paid.

The greatest price that Jesus paid was when He became sin for you and I – as He became sin, He became the target of the wrath of God towards sin… Jesus endured every curse of the Law on the cross, He endured the fire of God, and worst of all… Jesus was separated from the Father for the first and the last time in eternity because of the sin of the world as He cried out, “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?”

Jesus’ last words on the cross of Calvary were, “Tetelestai”, translated “PAID IN FULL!” Then He cried out, “Father into your hands I commit My Spirit!”. The message of the cross is that Jesus paid our debt in full on the cross of Calvary!

Jesus gave everything on the cross so that we could live a life in His grace, in His favor and in His blessing… an abundant life as kings and priests, blessed beyond measure in Him… ‘For you have experienced the extravagant grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that although He was infinitely rich, He impoverished Himself for our sake, so that by His poverty, we could become rich beyond measure. - 2 Cor. 8:9 (TPT)’

Indeed the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

Blessings on you, Nick
