Today’s New Covenant nugget is from Hebrews 4:1 (TPT)

Now God has offered to us the same promise of entering into His realm of resting in confident faith. So we must be extremely careful to ensure that we all embrace the fullness of that promise and not fail to experience it.

I was listening to Joseph Prince a few days ago as he was teaching on Psalm 91… I was blessed to hear how close his teaching on Psalm 91 was to mine – here we were, continents apart, receiving the same ‘now word’ from our amazing, faithful God.

As Joseph was teaching, he explained how that the Hebrew word for ‘he who dwells in’ the secret place of the Most High is ‘yâshab’… literally translated, ‘he who sits down’ in the secret place (Christ Jesus). The Lord wants us to sit down and to relax in Christ… the highest level of faith is ‘resting faith’.

When Jesus said, “It is finished”, He descended into Hell, ripped to keys to Hades and death out of the devil’s grip, and then He rose from the grave, walked among men for forty days and then ascended to Heaven, where He is now SEATED at the right hand of the Father. As believers, we are SEATED in Christ (our secret place), resting in His finished work.

Striving faith is the lowest form of faith… striving faith confesses the Word, shouts at the devil, prays and tries to assure that it does everything it can do to not fail – resting faith sits down and relaxes in the secret place, knowing that when Jesus said, “it is finished”, that Jesus had done it all!

Resting faith confesses and declares the Word from a place of rest and peace and joy, not from a place of worry, sweat and tears – resting faith does not beg God, it does not try to continually remind God as if He is sleeping and needs to be woken up… resting faith knows that God is watching over His Word to perform it and that He will bring it to pass.

When we sit down to enjoy a meal, our Chihuahuas, Bella and Chico jump onto our laps and then use their snouts to nudge us… they nudge, then give us that worried look, ‘don’t forget about us’… we have to keep telling them to stop – I always put a little food aside for them on my plate, and I give it to them when I am done… but they feel the need to continually remind me.

That is how some believers are with the Lord, they will not rest, they feel the need to use their snouts to continually nudge the Lord. Let the Holy Spirit teach you how to relax, how to enter into ‘resting faith”. ‘God has offered to us the same promise of entering into His realm of resting in confident faith. So we must be extremely careful to ensure that we all embrace the fullness of that promise and not fail to experience it.’ - Selah
