Today’s New Covenant nugget is from 1 Corinthians 12:1

Now about the spiritual gifts (spiritual things), brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be ignorant…

1 Corinthians 12:7-11 - But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.

TODAY’S TEACHING IS ON PROPHECY

Acts 2:17-18 - It shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out My Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. In those days I will pour out my Spirit even on my servants — men and women alike — and they will prophesy.

In the last days fresh revelation is going to be poured out concerning New Covenant prophecy. There has been a lot of misunderstanding concerning what prophecy is - that has led to big problems in the body of Christ and many have pulled away from true New Covenant prophecy as a result. As the Lord restores true anointed, powerful prophecy in His church, revival will spring forth as prophesied in Acts 2:17-18.

NEW COVENANT PROPHECY IS SPEAKING (BUBBLING FORTH) AND COMMANDING THE WORD OF GOD IN AUTHORITY UNDER THE ANOINTING.

Too much emphasis has been placed on predicting or foretelling instead of forth-telling. Prophecy does not focus on prediction, or foretelling, it focuses on forth-telling… in other words – speaking forth the Word of God as led by the Spirit.

1 Corinthians 14:3 says that He who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men. These are the three main ingredients to New Covenant prophecy… edification, exhortation, and comfort.

NEW COVENANT PROPHECY IS BUBBLING FORTH AND COMMANDING THE WORD OF GOD IN AUTHORITY UNDER THE ANOINTING, BRINGING EDIFICATION, EXHORTATION AND COMFORT.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN OLD COVENANT PROPHET, A NEW COVENANT PROPHET, THE GIFT OF PROPHECY AND PROPHESYING BY FAITH…

In the Old Covenant, a prophet was ‘the Word of God’ to the people, that is why Old Covenant prophets were put to death if they were wrong. A new Covenant prophet is subject to the Word and is not ‘the Word’ – he or she has to be judged against the Word of God, the anointing and the inward witness. They do sometimes get things wrong and there are many contributing factors… so, what they say must be tested.

A New Covenant prophet would have more of the gifts of the Spirit in operation than just the gift of prophecy. - For a person to stand in the office of a New covenant prophet, he would need to be called to the fivefold ministry and the word of wisdom, the word of knowledge, or the discerning of spirits — plus the gift of prophecy operating consistently in his ministry.

The gift of prophecy is the Holy Spirit speaking the Word through a believer to one or more individuals - bringing the Word to pass in their lives and bringing edification, exhortation, and comfort.

Prophesying by faith is using your faith to bubble forth the Word under the anointing and with authority to bring it to pass. All prophecy always brings edification, exhortation, and comfort.

Ezekiel 37:1-7 - The hand of the Lord came upon me and brought me out in the Spirit of the Lord, and set me down in the midst of the valley; and it was full of bones. Then He caused me to pass by them all around, and behold, there were very many in the open valley; and indeed they were very dry. - And He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” So I answered, “O Lord God, You know.” - Again He said to me, “Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the Word of the Lord! Thus says the Lord God to these bones: “Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live. I will put sinews on you and bring flesh upon you, cover you with skin and put breath in you; and you shall live. Then you shall know that I am the Lord.” ’ ” So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and suddenly a rattling; and the bones came together, bone to bone.

PROPHECY IS SPEAKING THE WORD UNDER THE ANOINTING WITH COMMANDING AUTHORITY

Jesus teaches us in Mark 11:22-23 - So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says (whoever prophesies) to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.

EVERY BELIEVER CAN PROPHESY – GET IN THE SPIRIT – THEN, BUBBLE FORTH THE WORD THAT HAS BEEN SOWN INTO YOUR HEART WITH COMMANDING AUTHORITY.

Blessings on you, Nick
