Today’s devotion comes from Romans 8:14
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
The Holy Spirit wants to lead us in all things…
He wants to lead us, so that we could stay in the pathway of life and live the blessed life. Wait upon the Lord and follow His leading on what to do, when to do it and how to do it. There is always a reason for what the Lord leads us to do. Be open to the Lord leading you differently each time that you do something…
With Moses, The Lord used Moses’ rod to do many miracles…
In Exodus 4:17 the Lord said to Moses, “you shall take this rod in your hand, with which you shall do signs and wonders”. The Lord told Moses to strike the sea with his rod, and it parted… then in Exodus 17:6, the Lord told Moses to strike a rock and that water would gush forth out of the rock… Moses struck the rock and water gushed forth!
Then in Numbers 20:7 the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Take the rod; you and your brother Aaron gather the congregation together. Speak to the rock before their eyes, and it will yield its water; thus you shall bring water for them out of the rock, and give drink to the congregation and their animals.”
So Moses took the rod from before the Lord as He commanded him. Then Moses lifted his hand and struck the rock twice with his rod; and water came out abundantly, and the congregation and their animals drank. Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not believe Me, to hallow Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.”
Up to this point, the Lord always used Moses’ staff for miracles… but this time, the Lord led Moses differently, He wanted Moses to speak to the rock and not use his staff, but Moses was comfortable using His staff, and not comfortable speaking – on top of that, Moses had God’s Word to back him up… Exodus 4:17, “you shall take this rod in your hand, with which you shall do signs and wonders”. God still did the miracle, but He was not pleased with the way Moses did what He did.
Be open to the Lord leading you differently, even though it may be a stretch… He may want you to do things differently than He led you the last time!
I believe that the Lord wanted Moses to ‘speak’ miracles from the beginning, but because Moses did not have the confidence or the faith to speak and declare miracles, the Lord allowed him to use his rod… Then, when the Lord was ready to promote Moses, He told Moses to speak to the rock, instead of striking it like before! Instead of Moses being promoted, he was demoted by doing what he did the way that that he did it before, instead of being led by the Spirit.
Reinhard Bonnke started out healing the sick by laying hands on people, later the Lord let him to stop laying hands on people and to just speak the Word of healing over them – He went from ministering healing to one at a time, to ministering healing to thousands at a time.
Be open to the Lord leading you in a different way than He has before… be open to grow in the Lord – to grow beyond your comfort zone… seek His face, get fresh revelation and be led by the Spirit in all that you do, in Jesus Name!
Make this confession of faith - say this out loud with me…
“John 17:17 says that I am sanctified and set apart by Your truth - Your Word is truth - Your Word absolute truth – the Word is for me to walk in, to accept as final truth and for me to stand on, to declare by faith and for me to do – I am who the Word says that I am - I can do what the Word says I can do - I can be who the Word says I can be - Christ in me can do all things – I can do all things through Christ - I have absolute POWER over ALL the Work of the enemy – nothing shall by any means harm me – I have power to raise the dead – I have power to heal the sick – I have power to do the works of Jesus – I have total authority over all of the works of His hands in Jesus Name! – the power and the authority of the creator of all things is on the inside of me – when I speak by faith, I ALWAYS have what I say – As I speak the Word, the Father ALWAYS watches over it to perform it – The Father loves it when I expect Him to ALWAYS perform His EVERY Word! – I always expect the Father to bring to pass every word that I speak according to His Word – God is not a man that He should lie – His Word is literal, His Word is truth and His Word is final!”
