Today’s devotion comes from Matthew 5:14-15

“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.”

Jesus wants us to be the light of the world…

Many believers spend most of their time trying to combat darkness, speaking against the wrongdoing in the world today, criticizing the sinful nature of the world we live in and condemning political opponents whose political beliefs contradict biblical values. Jesus did none of that… He did not involve Himself politically, come against sinners or condemn the worldly practices of the society that He lived in. Instead He presented the answer, He loved the unlovely and He had compassion on worldly lost sinners. Jesus was the light of the world, not the accuser of the world and that is exactly what He wants us to be.

Jesus did speak out against the pious, religious, legalistic, judgmental bigots of the day, but He gave mercy, grace, love and compassion to worldly sinners. That is how we reach and impact the world, not by marching against their sinful practices, but by being the light.

Many Christians on social media need to get this revelation…

I witness so many Christians make hateful comments and post judgmental things against those who do not have Christian values or a biblical worldview – how can we expect non believers in an increasingly secular society to embrace biblical values and a New Covenant worldview? If we want real change, we have to stop judging and coming against and start loving and shining the light of Christ – if we want real change, we need revival, not political revolution! I would advise every believer to exit the culture of bigoted hate that has infected the church – don’t have any part of judgmental social media posts and if you are going to post something, be the light of the world and post things that are hopeful, loving and grace-filled!

The world has become a political hotbed of hate… it has become inundated with a corrupt valueless culture of death mixed with the promotion of vulgar despicable practices – the world we live in embraces and promotes things today that would have made the worst sinner of a couple of generations ago blush. The answer however is not criticism, judgment and condemnation – the answer is for us to preach the good news of the gospel and for us to be the light of the world!

Make this confession of faith - say this out loud with me…

“John 17:17 says that I am sanctified and set apart by Your truth - Your Word is truth - Your Word absolute truth – the Word is for me to walk in, to accept as final truth and for me to stand on, to declare by faith and for me to do – I am who the Word says that I am - I can do what the Word says I can do - I can be who the Word says I can be - Christ in me can do all things – I can do all things through Christ - I have absolute POWER over ALL the Work of the enemy – nothing shall by any means harm me – I have power to raise the dead – I have power to heal the sick – I have power to do the works of Jesus – I have total authority over all of the works of His hands in Jesus Name! – the power and the authority of the creator of all things is on the inside of me – when I speak by faith, I ALWAYS have what I say – As I speak the Word, the Father ALWAYS watches over it to perform it – The Father loves it when I expect Him to ALWAYS perform His EVERY Word! – I always expect the Father to bring to pass every word that I speak according to His Word – God is not a man that He should lie – His Word is literal, His Word is truth and His Word is final!”
