Today’s devotion is from Ephesians 6:18 (NLT)

Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.

If believers would spend as much time praying for one another as they do talking about one another and trying to fix one another we would be in a continuous state of revival.

Prayer is powerful, especially prayers that are Spirit led and Word based. Talking about another person’s problems will never resolve anything and trying to fix another person through confrontation or correction is also largely ineffective. When it comes to people, effective prayer is the solution to most problems.

When we stand in the gap… when we intercede for others and speak the Word over them and into them, the Holy Spirit goes to work. The bible says that the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12) When we pray the Word over a person, it penetrates and goes to the root of the problem… the Word discerns the thoughts and the intents of the heart, exposes and removes deception and then heals and makes whole.

Praying the Word includes speaking the Word over a person according to our understanding and the leading of the Spirit, but it also includes praying in the Spirit with your heavenly language. When you pray in the Spirit, you are praying the Word on the highest level of faith.

We will always face relational challenges with the people in our lives including our family – the most effective thing that you can do is pray! Pray persistently and pray wholeheartedly in faith… as you do the Holy Spirit, together with the Word will go to work in you and in the person or people that you are challenged with. With prayer almost every problem will be taken care of and you will begin to experience true New Covenant relationships as God designed them to be!
