Today’s devotion is from Jeremiah 29:12-13 (AMP)
Then you will call on Me and you will come and pray to Me, and I will hear [your voice] and I will listen to you. Then [with a deep longing] you will seek Me and require Me [as a vital necessity] and [you will] find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.
The Lord is not hiding from us as New Covenant believers, He wants to reveal Himself and manifest His glory to every believer. What the Lord is talking about in seeking Him is for us to focus our faith to have an intimate relationship with Him. He is saying that if we will make the effort, He will manifest Himself in our lives and have a meaningful relationship with us.
Many believers only seek His hand…
Many believers sadly build their entire relationship with the Lord around what they want Him to do for them; many times the only time that they pray is when they need something. Seek His face and not His hand. As we take the time to know the Lord, to worship Him and to meditate upon His Word, the Lord will engage Himself in our affairs. David was a man after God’s heart; his heart after God moved the Lord and touched the Lord. The Lord sent a prophet to his home and raised him up as the king of Israel.
Throughout the Psalms you can see how David continued to interact with the Lord and worship Him. David enjoyed a closer relationship with the Lord in the Old Covenant than many do in the New Covenant because of how that he sought the Lord.
Keep your relationship with the Lord vital, tender and heartfelt and as you do, He will seek you out daily and continually find new ways to bless you, to raise you up and to prosper you!
