Today’s devotion is from Mark 11:22-24

So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask [require] when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

RECEIVING WITH WORDS OF FAITH

In this passage Jesus is teaching us how to use words of faith to receive. He begins by teaching on the power of words spoken in faith, then He begins by pointing to a mountain, then He expands His teaching to include prayer. Jesus is still talking about words of faith, He says, “‘therefore’, in the light of what I have just taught you, when you pray, whatever you ask, require or demand with faith filled words believe that you will receive and you will.”

The Greek word for ask is ‘Aitéo’ – it literally means to require, to command or to demand – the same Greek word used in the scripture ‘To whom much is given, much is required’. Jesus teaches that just like speaking to the mountain, our words of faith receive promised blessings from the Lord. The Lord wants us to fully expect and to require His Word to work as we declare it by faith. Faith filled words receive the promises of God. As you speak to things by faith in your time of devotion, believe you receive what you say and you will have what you say.

CALLING THOSE THINGS WHICH DO NOT EXIST AS THOUGH THEY DID

Romans 4:16-17 says, ‘Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that the promise might be sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all (as it is written, “I have made you a father of many nations”) in the presence of Him whom he believed—God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did.’

When Abram changed His name to Abraham [Father of many nations] He was using his faith in the same way that God uses His faith. Calling those things that do not exist as though they did. When Abraham did this, He was praying the prayer of faith and using his words to receive his promise as Jesus taught in Mark 11:22-14. Abraham literally called Isaac into existence and received him by his words of faith.

DECLARING WORDS OF FAITH IN THE PRESENCE OF OTHERS

1 Timothy 6:12 - Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, (never ending life) to which you were also called and have confessed [declared] the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

The word ‘confessed’ is the Greek word ‘Homologéo’ – it literally means ‘To say the same thing as God’, or to speak the Word. Paul the Apostle is encouraging Timothy to get together with other believers and to pray with declaring words of faith together. When you declare the Word in the presence of like-minded believers, you are fighting the fight of faith and requiring what you say to manifest. Use your words of faith as receivers to receive every promise from the Lord by grace through faith in Jesus Name!
