Today’s New Covenant nugget is from 1 Samuel 16:13

Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward.

David was anointed by Samuel with oil and the scripture says that when he was anointed, the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. David was called of God. God had a purpose and a plan and a divine destiny for David. David was set aside by God, anointed by the Holy Spirit and from the day the oil was poured out over him, the Spirit of the Lord came upon him. The scripture says ‘from that day forward’. After David was anointed, he began to see open doors into the call and purposes of God for his life. When I think of David, besides him being one of Israel’s greatest Kings. Even though his life had many ups and downs, he knew he was anointed of God and unstoppable in the purpose, plan and destiny God had called him to.

In the book of Acts, we read about the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the upper room, “And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance”.

Here in Acts we see the outpouring of the Spirit of God on the disciples. Each of the disciples that day, received boldness and power to go be witnesses. With the anointing of the Holy Ghost on their lives, they stepped into the call, purpose and destiny God had for them.

As you spend time with the Lord, thank Him for His ‘oil’ on your life, thank Him for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on your life. Thank Him, that you are walking in His calling on your life… the purposes, plans and the destiny that He has called you to.

Just as the Spirit of the Lord rested on David, just as the Spirit of boldness and power rested on the disciples, just so, His Spirit is resting on your life. Don’t hold back, don’t be intimidated by the threats of the enemy, but step in your call for the divine purposes that He has planned for your life.

In His amazing Love, Esther
