Today’s devotion is from Galatians 5:22-23 (AMPC)
But the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit [the work which His presence within accomplishes] is love, joy (gladness), peace, patience (an even temper, forbearance), kindness, goodness (benevolence), faithfulness, Gentleness (meekness, humility), self-control (self-restraint, continence).
The Holy Spirit working within us gives us supernatural ability…
The fruit of the Spirit is not a list of things that we can walk in, in our own strength, but we can do these things by the power of the Spirit working in and through us. Not only can we experience the fruit listed here, but we have to do so in order the experience victory and breakthrough in spite of circumstances.
Maintaining love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self control at all times in spite of circumstances can be a reality to the born again, Spirit filled believer.
By the power of the Spirit we can love unconditionally and continually, we can walk in overflowing joy in times of heart-wrenching sorrow, we can have peace that passes understanding in times of turmoil, we can have patient endurance and persistence to never give up or give in, we can have supernatural kindness, goodness and steadfast faith, and we can have relentless self-control to subdue our flesh and to walk in the Spirit by the power of the Holy Spirit working within us.
When a believer ‘fleshes out’, it works to delay or even steal God’s promises from us. As you encounter hardship, receive strength and supernatural ability from the Holy Spirit and then, do what you do, and say what you say under His control. It may take some time, but as you do, breakthrough will begin to materialize.
I have had people say, “When is this prophesy going to come to pass, when is God’s promise in my life going to manifest?” It will manifest as soon as you and I stop sabotaging our blessings by our flesh… in and out of faith, impatience, lack of self-control, anger, complaining, verbal-diarrhea and flesh fits only serve to delay, hinder and ultimately steal every promise that has been given to us. It takes Spirit-empowered living to lay hold of and to keep the blessings of the Lord.
By His grace we can live a Spirit-empowered life and as we do, we will have life, and we will live life more abundantly, in Jesus Name!
