Today’s devotion is from 1 Corinthians 1:18

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

In this passage Paul the apostle refers to those who are being saved. The word ‘saved’ is the Greek word ‘sozo’. The word sozo can be used in the context of being born again, but it is much broader than that… sozo means to be made prosperous, to be made whole, to be healed, to be delivered, protected, preserved and to be blessed. We are instantly born again the moment that we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, but we are progressively made prosperous, whole and progressively and continually, ongoingly blessed. The literal translation of ‘being saved’ is ‘being, being saved’.

The message of the cross is the power of God that progressively and continually transforms us, prospers us, blesses us, heals us, protects us and makes us whole! As we renew our minds to the message of the cross we become progressively more like Jesus and His work on the inside of us increases in it’s effect day after day.

The message of the cross is the truth about what happened on the cross of Calvary. He Who knew no sin became sin so that we could become the righteousness of Christ in Him. Jesus did not just pay the price for our sins on Calvary, He broke the power and the effect of sin in the lives of all who would receive Him as Lord and Savior. The message of the cross is more than a story, it is the POWER of God unto salvation. In other words, those who believe, receive and embrace the revelation of what Jesus did on the cross also receive the anointed impartation contained within the message.

As you meditate on the message of the cross, the New Covenant that was established on the cross, on all that Jesus did for you, on how that salvation was provided for you on the cross, not by your works, but by what Jesus did. As you meditate upon the love that was released, the grace and the mercy that was released… as you meditate upon the message of the cross this Easter, the power of God to prosper, protect, deliver, heal and bless will work in and through you, glory be to God!
