Many believers believe that even though you have been born again, you may still be under a ‘generational curse’… Let me say upfront, “that is a lie from the pit of hell!” No believer is under any curse! This is a clear example of deceived ministers creating their own doctrine taking some of the Old Covenant and some of the New Covenant, and then coming up with their own covenant. I challenge anyone reading this to substantiate generational curses under the New Covenant! You will not be able to, because it simply is not taught in the New Covenant!
I spend most of my time preaching the ‘Good News’ and correct doctrine… I hardly ever spend any time coming against unbiblical teachings, but this particular unbiblical teaching is bringing so many under bondage that I have to speak out and bring the truth of the New Covenant to this subject. I have heard it said, “You are under the generational curse of mammon, of lust, of cancer, of divorce and such, and we have to break that curse before you can go on and be free.”
Let’s look at how this false doctrine has come about…
Exodus 20:4-6 says ‘You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea. You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family is affected—even children in the third and fourth generations of those who reject me. But I lavish unfailing love for a thousand generations on those who love me and obey my commands.’
Exodus 34:7 says, ‘I (God) lavish unfailing love to a thousand generations. I forgive iniquity, rebellion, and sin. But I do not excuse the guilty. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children and grandchildren; the entire family is affected— even children in the third and fourth generations.’
This is a curse that God laid on families to the third and forth generation under the Law for punishment because of idol worship. The devil did not put it on people, God did as a punishment for idol worship as a curse under the Old Covenant Law. So, If a generational curse is put there by God, no amount of praying and binding the devil will be able to break it!
The bible says in Galatians 3:13 that, ‘Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When He was hung on the cross, He took upon Himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.’’’ Under the New Covenant we are FREE from the curse of the law, including generational curses. Jesus took upon Himself the curse for our wrongdoing as well as for the wrongdoing of every person on the face of this earth.
When you got born again under the New Covenant, you became a first generation believer. The bible says that Old things (including your old lineage) have passed away, and that all things have become new. No curse can filter through the blood of Jesus. You were born according to the lineage of your natural mother and father, but you have been born again according to the lineage of your Heavenly father.
Now, it is true that the devil may tempt you to try to get you to fall into the traps of previous generations of your family, but temptation requires no deliverance. All temptation requires is walking in the Spirit by the grace of God! ‘For sin shall no longer have dominion over you for you are no longer under the law, but under grace!’
When believers try to go through the process of deliverance from generational curses, they are denying the power of the New Covenant and the power of the blood of Jesus, and they are denying that old things have past away and that all things have become new. The practice of breaking generational curses under the New Covenant is a dead work and is totally unscriptural. Do not subject yourself to this ignorant practice.
Instead of going through needless ritualistic practices that lead to bondage, receive the free gift of salvation and redemption through Jesus Christ! Walk as a new creature in Christ and walk in the power of the Holy Ghost, in Jesus name!
