Today’s devotion is from 2 Peter 1:4 (NLT)
And because of his glory and excellence, He has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.
I love this scripture. In the King James Bible, it reads, “Might be partakers of the divine nature”. A partaker is someone who participates in a relationship or activity. We have been invited to be partakers of His divine nature. Isn’t that just amazing when you think about it. The God who created all heaven and earth, has given us His precious Word and as we receive the promises of His Word, by faith and through His great grace, we become partakers of His Supernatural Heavenly, Divine Nature.
We get to “taste and see “that the Lord is good and great and greatly to be praised. We get to experience His divine nature living inside of us. His Divine Nature in our spirit man, now begins to live through us as we keep yielding to Him, receiving His promises and allowing His Word access into our lives by Faith. His Word in my heart, on my lips, on my mind become His “Living Word” that feeds my spirit man and as I yield and receive and lay hold of His promises, He allows me to share in His Divine nature so that I can escape the corruption of the world and live by the desires of the Spirit of God.
I recently heard a preacher share that he had a lust problem and if anybody knew how he could effectively get rid of that lust problem to please message him and let him know. I am talking about someone with a huge social media following. Well, doesn’t this verse right here, give us a key to escaping the corruption and desires of the flesh. That’s why the bible says, if we walk in the spirit, we will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.
Friends, lets be partakers of His divine nature, let’s lay hold of His promises and yield to His Spirit, so that through His Spirit in our inner man, we can truly do all things through Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior who strengthens and equips us.
