Today’s devotion is from Genesis 22:7-8
Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, “My father!” And he said, “Here I am, my son.” Then he said, “Look, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” And Abraham said, “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.” So the two of them went together.
God is never late, seldomly early, but always on time!
Most of us want tomorrow’s provision today. We want the money in the bank ahead of time, so we do not need to use our faith. But the reality is, many times, if not most of the time, the Lord provides what we need in the time and season that we really need it and not earlier. He is not trying to turn us into nervous wrecks, He is just wanting to demonstrate His faithfulness. Those of you who are standing in faith are taken care of in this moment, but as for tomorrow… it may look in the natural that lack is looming on the horizon. The devil wants us to worry and to be consumed with fear over the things that we do not have that we are going to need in the future. He wants you to worry about tomorrow’s bills, tomorrow’s potential problems and tomorrow’s needs today. I am here to assure you that as you continue to stand in faith… when tomorrow comes, you will be provided for!
Let’s look at Abraham’s story…
The Lord said to Abraham, “Take your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.” So Abraham rose early in the morning went to the place of which God had told him. When Abraham saw the place afar off, he said to those with him, “Stay here with the donkey; the lad and I will go yonder and worship, and we will come back to you.”
Abraham took Isaac his son, and the two of them went together. Then Isaac asked Abraham, “Look, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” And Abraham said, “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.”
And Abraham built an altar there and bound Isaac and laid him on the altar and took the knife to slay his son. But the Angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!”
“Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him.” Then Abraham looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son. And Abraham called the name of the place, The-Lord-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the Lord it shall be provided.” (Story from Genesis 22:1-19)
Put your trust in the Lord as Abraham did… tomorrow’s provision will be released to you when you need it, it may not be early, it will not be late, but it will be on time! Keep the faith – enter His rest - God is willing, He is able, He is gracious and He is full of mercy. – Selah
