Today’s devotion is from Philippians 3:8-9 (TPT)
To truly know Him (Jesus) meant letting go of everything from my past and throwing all my boasting on the garbage heap. It’s all like a pile of manure to me now, so that I may be enriched in the reality of knowing Jesus Christ and embrace Him as Lord in all of His greatness. My passion is to be consumed with Him and not clinging to my own “righteousness” based in keeping the written Law. My “righteousness” will be His, based on the faithfulness of Jesus Christ—the very righteousness that comes from God.
If we focus on ourselves, what we have done, what we have not done, how we did it, or how and why we failed, that self-focus will rob us of walking in His righteousness, His strength and His ability. Paul was determined to keep the main thing, the main thing… knowing Jesus, embracing Him and being passionately consumed with Jesus… Who HE is, what HE did, and what HE is doing.
The enemy will try to distract us by shifting our focus onto ourselves and away from Jesus. Friend, I promise you that as you focus on Jesus, He will focus on you! As you focus on the needs of His house, Jesus will focus on the needs of your house! - Selah
