Today’s devotion is from 2 Samuel 22:47-51
The Lord liveth; and blessed be my Rock; let God be exalted, the Rock of my salvation. It is God that avengeth me, and that bringeth down the people under me, and that bringeth me forth from mine enemies: Thou also hast lifted me up on high above them that rose up against me: Thou hast delivered me from the violent man. Therefore I will give thanks unto Thee, O Lord, among the heathen, and I will sing praises unto Thy Name. He is the tower of salvation for his king: and sheweth mercy to his anointed, unto David, and to his seed for evermore.
What a powerful song of thanksgiving…
David knew what it was like to be under constant attack, and yet he was continually singing and writing songs of praise and thanksgiving. I have met many people who do not have that revelation… the only songs that they sing are sad songs of gloom and doom. David had every reason to be a ‘country singer’… “Mamma, don’t let your babies grow up to be cowboys” – “Gloom, despair and agony on me” – “I fall to pieces”, and such, but instead, he wrote and sang anointed, positive songs of praise and thanksgiving!
If your daily conversations were songs, what songs are you singing? Songs of faith, of praise, of thanksgiving that bless the Lord, or are your daily words negative songs that would make the top ten on the ‘saddest country song’ bill board?
Sing songs of praise and thanksgiving to the Lord this week in your conversations, in your prayers, and in your worship! Exalt the God of your salvation! As you do, His anointing will fill your day and your enemies will be defeated wherever you go and whatever you do!
Blessings on you, Nick
