Today’s devotion is from Colossians 3:15
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.
There is a difference between soulish, fleshly peace and the PEACE of God…
The peace of God is an anointed state of being that is imparted from the Prince of peace (Jesus) through the Holy Ghost. The peace of God transcends understanding and has nothing to do with circumstances. Soulish, fleshly, circumstantial peace is a temporary feeling of tranquility that is entirely based upon circumstances.
The peace of God comes out of agape’ love, is fueled by faith and is overflowing with the anointing… in other words, the peace of God is an anointed, faith filled, joy filled, calmly expectant readiness to face whatever comes our way. That anointed PEACE of God needs to rule in our hearts at all times. Fleshly, soulish, circumstantial peace will come and go, depending on what you are facing, but the peace of God will stay, as long as you are being led by the Spirit.
When a believer ceases to be led by the Spirit, the peace of God, along with the anointing and the faith and the joy on it leaves. The peace of God needs to RULE at all times… if the peace of God is not there, do not proceed… stop everything, seek God’s face, pray in the Spirit and let the Lord speak to you and redirect you. As you find His direction, the peace of God will immediately invade your space and strongly identify itself. When the peace of God is present, then, and then only proceed.
The Passion Translation says, ‘Let your heart be always guided by the peace of the Anointed One, Who called you to peace as part of His one body. And always be thankful.’
The Amplified Bible says, ‘Let the peace of Christ [the inner calm of one who walks daily with Him] be the controlling factor in your hearts [deciding and settling questions that arise]. To this peace indeed you were called as members in one body [of believers]. And be thankful [to God always].’
The Amplified Bible, Classic Edition says, ‘And let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds, in that peaceful state] to which as [members of Christ’s] one body you were also called [to live]. And be thankful (appreciative), [giving praise to God always].’
“For you shall go out with joy, and be led out with peace; the mountains and the hills shall break forth into singing before you, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.” - Isaiah 55:12
