Today’s devotion is from Revelation 1:10 (AMPC)
I was in the Spirit [rapt in His power] on the Lord’s Day, and I heard behind me a great voice like the calling of a war trumpet.
Instead of having a pity party because he was banished to the arid island of Patmos, John worshipped the Lord until he was rapt in His power. His circumstances could not have been worse, but John looked beyond his circumstances to the Lord. He pressed in until he was rapt in His power – now, being ‘rapt’ is different from being ‘wrapped’ - when you get deeply involved in something, you may say you’re wrapped up in it; but if you are entranced or enraptured by something you are ‘rapt,’ not ‘wrapped.’ The word ‘rapt’ means to be ‘carried away’… Paul pressed in until he got carried away in the power of the Spirit.
Being ‘wrapped’ in the Spirit actually comes before being ‘rapt’ in the Spirit. You press in until you get woven, intertwined, wrapped and ‘one’ with the Spirit, then you go further… when you do, you can become ‘rapt’, or carried away in the power of the Spirit into the realms of God. Few believers press in until they are rapt in the power of the Spirit, but those who do experience encounters with the Lord on the highest level as John the apostle did.
If you want to see the Lord, if you want to enter into the realms of God and see Heaven, see angels and experience the glory of God, you can… in fact the Lord wants you to experience this, but you cannot get rapt while checking your smartphone every thirty seconds… it takes fervent, focused worship and pressing in – it takes single mindedness and it takes a passion for the Lord, but you can get rapt in the power of the Spirit TODAY! It is not hard, by His grace it does not take effort, just single minded resolve and focus – the Lord wants you all to Himself in total devotion, worshipping Him in Spirit and in truth.
This is what the Lord is referring to when He says that those who seek Him with all of their heart will find Him – He is not hiding from you, He wants to draw you deep into the realms of God and then He will reveal Himself to you. One moment being ‘rapt’ in the power of the Spirit will forever change your life and the lives of those that you touch!
