Today’s devotion is from Romans 8:1 (TPT)
So now the case is closed. There remains no accusing voice of condemnation against those who are joined in life-union with Jesus, the Anointed One
Condemnation is straight from the pit of hell; it is a fiery arrow of the wicked one in an attempt to disqualify you…
Condemnation hides itself in feelings of discouragement, restlessness, depression, heaviness, anxiety, fear, worry and a general feeling of hopelessness. Most condemnation is hidden and not easily discerned, it comes in the form of thoughts towards ourselves… “I messed up again, I’m so stupid, I’m so ugly, I’m so fat, the Holy Spirit is disappointed in me, I let down my family again, how could I have blown it again, It is too late for me, I do not deserve what I desire…” these thoughts are sent by the devil for you to disqualify yourself, so that you do not walk in strength and in power.
Sometimes condemnation is subconscious… in this case, the enemy bypasses your mind and places toxic thoughts and toxic emotions in your subconscious mind – the bible calls this the ‘spirit of the mind’ - the way this works is that the enemy attaches feelings of condemnation to past memories… like feeling trapped, or feeling restless, or feeling frustrated – those are all lying ‘spirits’ of condemnation that are sent to attack you and to attempt to disqualify you in your subconscious mind.
Paul the apostle describes these feelings, or thoughts of condemnation in Romans chapter seven, “I do not understand what I am doing. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do. I know that nothing good dwells in me; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?”
Then in Romans 8:1 he gives the answer, ‘So now the case is closed. There remains no accusing voice of condemnation against those who are joined in life-union with Jesus, the Anointed One.’ There is no disqualifying factor to those that are in Christ – your qualification is in what Jesus did, not in what you did, or failed to do.
Jesus said to the woman caught in the act of adultery, “Where are your accusers? Neither do I condemn you… go and sin no more!” Jesus recognized that the root of the woman’s sin was self-condemnation, and that the answer to her freedom was in knowing that HE did not condemn her. Knowing, and renewing our minds to the truth that Jesus does not condemn us and that we are righteous in Christ is the key to break free.
The more that we meditate on the message of grace, the more that we renew our minds to the truth that we have been made acceptable in the beloved, the more that the lie of condemnation loses any effect in our lives.
Make this confession of faith - say this out loud with me…
“John 17:17 says that I am sanctified and set apart by Your truth - Your Word is truth - Your Word absolute truth – the Word is for me to walk in, to accept as final truth and for me to stand on, to declare by faith and for me to do – I am who the Word says that I am - I can do what the Word says I can do - I can be who the Word says I can be - Christ in me can do all things – I can do all things through Christ - I have absolute POWER over ALL the Work of the enemy – nothing shall by any means harm me – I have power to raise the dead – I have power to heal the sick – I have power to do the works of Jesus – I have total authority over all of the works of His hands in Jesus Name! – the power and the authority of the creator of all things is on the inside of me – when I speak by faith, I ALWAYS have what I say – As I speak the Word, the Father ALWAYS watches over it to perform it – The Father loves it when I expect Him to ALWAYS perform His EVERY Word! – I always expect the Father to bring to pass every word that I speak according to His Word – God is not a man that He should lie – His Word is literal, His Word is truth and His Word is final!”
