Today’s devotion is from Psalm 8:4-6
What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him? For You have made him a little lower than God, and You have crowned him with glory and honor. You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet.
The passion Translation says, ‘What honor You have given to men, created only a little lower than Elohim, crowned like kings and queens with glory and magnificence. You have delegated to them mastery over all You have made, making everything subservient to their authority, placing earth itself under the feet of Your image-bearers.’
This last Sunday I shared a very important message on our authority as New Covenant believers and I feel led to follow up on this vitally important truth for the church as we enter the last days.
In Paul’s letter to the church in Rome he says, ‘If by the one man’s sin death reigned through the one, much more will those who receive an abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.’ (Romans 5:17)
Jesus has given every believer ABUNDANCE of grace and the GIFT of righteousness, which qualifies us to reign in life through Him. Jesus wants us to take dominion THROUGH Him, in His name. Before the New Covenant, grace, or favor towards the Father as well as righteousness had been lost through one man’s sin. Because of that, Death reigned. Now, God has established a New Covenant to deal with the sin of that one man and the sins of every man and woman.
Jesus became sin and fully paid the price, so that in Him, those who believe in Him and receive what He has done would become the righteousness of God in Him. Through the New Covenant those of us who believe are righteous and our favor towards the father has been restored freely, and on an unmerited basis.
Every believer is now qualified to reign as kings in this life through Christ.
As a believer, you now have dominion over all of the work of His hands. The only exception is other people… we do not have dominion over people. Every person has free will and it is never the will of God for anybody to be controlled or dominated by another person.
As believers we have dominion power in the Name of Jesus and we get to reign in life with Him according to His Word. Sickness, poverty, famine, calamity, the weather, storms, earthquakes, fires, droughts, floods, fear, bondage and every work of the devil as well as every unscriptural circumstance is subject to our dominion authority in Christ.
In Luke 10:19, Jesus said, “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
The Passion Translation says, “Now you understand that I have imparted to you all my authority to trample over his kingdom. You will trample upon every demon before you and overcome every power satan possesses. Absolutely nothing will be able to harm you as you walk in this authority.
Take some time to study your new Covenant in Christ and then begin to reign in this life through Him! Cast away passive behavior and take the reins, in Jesus Name!
