Today’s devotion is from Genesis 3:7-11 (NLT)
At that moment their eyes were opened, and they suddenly felt shame at their nakedness. So they sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves. When the cool evening breezes were blowing, the man and his wife heard the Lord God walking about in the garden. So they hid from the Lord God among the trees. Then the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” He replied, “I heard you walking in the garden, so I hid. I was afraid because I was naked.” “Who told you that you were naked?” the Lord God asked.
Adam and Eve were allowed to eat of the tree of life, but not of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The tree of life was a type of righteousness in Christ and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was a type of sin consciousness. The moment that Adam and Eve ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they became sin conscious, the anointing that clothed them departed, and they knew that they were naked. They were naked before, but their nakedness was covered by the anointing that came from the tree of life [righteousness in Christ].
Sin consciousness exposes our nakedness, brings condemnation, and drives away the anointing that covers us. Grace and righteous consciousness imparts the anointing, which covers our nakedness and gives us boldness and favor in the presence of the Lord. The devil wants to point out our nakedness and Jesus wants to clothe us in His grace, His anointing and His gift of righteousness.
Acts 20:32 says, “And so now, I entrust you into God’s hands and the message of His grace, which is all that you need to become strong. All of God’s blessings are imparted through the message of His grace, which He provides as the spiritual inheritance given to all of His holy ones.” - Acts 20:32 (TPT)
The message of His grace brings grace consciousness and grace consciousness makes us strong and positions us to receive ALL of God’s blessings in Christ. Sin consciousness makes us weak, robs our anointing and positions us to give up what is rightfully ours in Christ.
Instead if focusing on your nakedness (your shortcomings, your sins, your weaknesses and your faults) focus of His grace towards you, who you are in Christ, His New Covenant and His gift of righteousness. Focus on what Jesus has done, instead of what you have done or have not done. Instead of disqualifying yourself through sin consciousness, allow Jesus to qualify you by receiving His unmerited favor, His free gift of righteousness and His unlimited forgiveness. Be grace conscious and be clothed in His anointing instead of walking around naked, afraid, condemned and hiding from God because of sin consciousness, in Jesus Name!
