Today’s New Covenant nugget is from 1 Peter 5:8 (AMP)
‘Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour.’
The Passion Translation says, “Be well balanced and always alert, because your enemy, the devil, roams around incessantly, like a roaring lion looking for its prey to devour.”
Balance is very important…
If our lives get out of balance we become easy prey for the enemy. Balance includes working hard, playing hard and getting enough sleep and exercise. Balance also includes planning and prioritizing the feeding of your spirit man, worshipping the Lord, and spiritual activities with fun, fellowship and enjoying some good, clean, edifying entertainment.
If we only focus on spiritual things we can get out of balance and in the same way, if we neglect spiritual things we will become out of balance. God made us as spirit beings, but he also gave us souls and bodies, as well as the five senses. The Lord gave us creative ability, a sense of humor and the desire to enjoy life, entertainment, sports and fellowship.
We need to feed every part of us and care for every part of us and live a balanced life…
I we don’t do that, the neglected part can result in depression, stress, anger and burn out.
It takes faith and determination to do what it takes to keep things balanced, but it is totally worth it… for Esther and I the spiritual things and ministry come very naturally and can consume our whole lives, so for us, we have to step out in faith to take time to relax, play and do fun things. Every person is different, but the Holy Spirit knows the best way for you to schedule your day, and He will lead you to include everything it takes to be balanced, energetic, alert, healthy and full of faith and power.
“Be well balanced and always alert, because your enemy, the devil, roams around incessantly, like a roaring lion looking for its prey to devour.” By living your life by grace through faith and by remaining balanced will keep you strong, alert and undevourable, in Jesus Name!
In His amazing love, Nick
