Today’s devotion is from Romans 8:1

‘Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.’

To be condemned is to be found guilty and to be sentenced and given punishment. The Bible says that THERE IS NOW NO CONDEMNATION toward us as believers in the New Covenant in Christ. The Amplified Bible says, ‘Therefore there is now no condemnation [no guilty verdict, no punishment] for those who are in Christ Jesus [who believe in Him as personal Lord and Savior].’

The Passion Translation says, ‘So now the case is closed. There remains no accusing voice of condemnation against those who are joined in life-union with Jesus, the Anointed One’

If we are found ‘not guilty’ and ‘righteous’ in Christ, even though we have committed sin and transgression and totally deserve to be charged! Now, if we are found ‘not guilty because of Jesus… if we are found ‘totally righteous’ in Christ… then what is the punishment that we have been redeemed from?

Number one… we have been redeemed from spending an eternity in hell.

Number two… we have been redeemed from the curse of the Law, including all sickness, poverty and lack; the list goes on… (Deuteronomy 28:15-68)

Number three… you have been redeemed from every work of the devil and every work of darkness including depression, oppression, possession, fear, anxiety, frustration and more.

Not only are we not condemned; we are freely given the gift of righteousness and made to be co-heirs with Christ. Not only are we redeemed from the curse, we are blessed with the blessings of righteousness. We are freely given the gift of grace, of spending eternity in Heaven with Jesus, we are freely given everything that pertains to life and godliness, health, wholeness, provision, prosperity, protection, preservation, the gifts of the Spirit, the fruits of the Spirit and much, much more…

Notice that there are no conditions attached to the promise, other than being in Christ… just, ‘There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.’ Jesus did it all; He fulfilled the Law, He paid the price for our sins on Calvary and He rose from the dead victoriously.

When you received Jesus as Lord and Savior you were supernaturally born again ‘in Christ’. Old things have passed away and you are a new creature ‘in Christ’… not only were you made new, you are continually being made new in Christ. He was judged, condemned, sentenced and punished in your stead. Salvation may be free for you, but it cost Jesus everything. Your salvation is very expensive! So, whatever you do, do not receive any condemnation… not ever, in Jesus Name!
