Today’s devotion is from Philippians 3:10 (AMP)
[For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly], and that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection [which overflows and is active in believers]
Seek the person of Jesus, and you will find His power!
Many people want the power of God, but have no interest in knowing the God of the power.
There are no formula’s that lead to His power, no seven steps and no five Principles that lead to Pentecostal Power. When we seek the Lord, we will find Him, and when we find the Lord, we will find His power.
By seeking, I am not referring to looking for an evasive God…
Jesus is not evasive; He makes Himself known to us, is eager to reveal Himself, and has paid a great price with His own blood so that our fellowship with Him would become a reality. When I talk about SEEKING the Lord, I am referring to pressing into Jesus, making time to worship Him, making Him a priority, and having a strong desire “to know Him and progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly.”
The Power of God is hidden in His Person.
The Lord has hidden His POWER in Himself. He requires fellowship and real relationship before He dispenses His power onto and into us. Dead religion is all about formulas rituals and rules, Christianity is all about relationship. Jesus did not give His life on the cross for us to only read the Bible as a success for life manual, He gave his life for us to be in relationship with Him, and the Bible is not a success manual, it is His Word, His love letter and His heart revealed to us that we may know Him.
I believe that as believers we need to continually evaluate our relationship with the Lord.
It is very easy to become such a STUDENT of faith, or grace, or love, or other subjects in the Word that we become more focused on the SUBJECT than we are on the PERSON.
Christianity can so easily become doctrine, philosophy and spirituality instead of a relationship. So many believers find themselves engulfed in spiritual philosophical doctrinal practices and spiritual, philosophical, doctrinal correctness instead of simply being focused on a relationship with JESUS… 7 steps to effective prayer, 5 ways to walk in blessing, 3 steps to mountain moving faith, priorities for successful relationships and on and on.
Subjects and teachings in the Bible are important, but every subject, every teaching and every principle must flow out of an ever-deepening relationship with the Lord.
Our works and practices as believers are fruit that we bear after being ENGRAFTED into the Jesus [the vine.] EVERYTHING we do, everything we believe and everything we are has to FLOW out of a vibrant, deep relationship with Jesus, otherwise it is just another dead religious philosophy.
Many do things in the Name of the Lord without taking the time to know Him.
“Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles? Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’” Matthew 7:22-23
For my determined purpose is that I may know Him, that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly, and that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection which overflows and is active in believers.
