Today's devotion is from Ephesians 1:3
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.
Under the Old Covenant in Deuteronomy 28 believers were told that if they obeyed every commandment of God that they would be blessed, but if they broke even one of His commandments that they would be cursed.
Did you know that Jesus fulfilled the law in our place? (Matthew 5:17)
What that means is that Jesus obeyed all of the Commandments in our stead, qualifying every believer for all of the blessings [and more] listed in Deuteronomy 28:1-14.
Jesus also took all of the curses of disobedience listed in Deuteronomy 28:15-68 upon Himself [on the cross] in our stead, disqualifying us from having pay the penalty of our disobedience.
Because of Jesus, every believer is made righteous and is justified [Just as if they never sinned] by grace through faith in Jesus, (Romans 3:22-24) and in Christ we are blessed with EVERY blessing because of His obedience… not ours!
If we had to depend upon our works and our total obedience to qualify for His blessing we would continually be unacceptable and disqualified, but thank God that He has made us acceptable in the beloved and has qualified us for every blessing in Christ Jesus!
PRAYER
Father, I receive Your blessings freely given to me in Christ Jesus. Because of Jesus, I am blessed in the city, and blessed in the country. My children are blessed, my animals are blessed, and my business is blessed.
Because of Jesus, I am blessed when I come in, and blessed when I go out.
The Lord causes every principality, power and ruler of darkness who rises against me to be defeated; they shall come out against me one way and flee before me seven ways.
My bank accounts are blessed and everything I touch is blessed.
As a believer who trusts in the Lord, all the people of the earth shall see that I am called by the name of the Lord, and I will walk in great favor.
Because of Jesus, His good treasure is open to me in heavenly realms, to meet my every need in when I need it and to bless all the work of my hands. I shall lend to many, but I shall not borrow.
Jesus has made me the head and not the tail; I am above only, and not beneath. All of these blessings and more are mine now in Christ Jesus!
