Today's devotion is from Hebrews 4:9-10
"There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His."
In context, (Hebrews 3 and 4) the “rest” that the prophecy in Hebrews three and four is referring to is the promised land.
It says in Hebrews 3:19 that Israel could not enter into this rest (The promised land) because of unbelief. Just like the Promised Land, the “REST” that the Lord specifically is talking to the church about is a place, a place of habitation.
For us as born again believers, that place is a person, Jesus Christ our Lord! He is our continual Sabbath’s rest.
The Father wants us REST in Christ by faith.
Resting requires ceasing from our works. That does not mean that we sleep all day and do nothing, it means that we do not rely or place our trust in our ability, we live by GRACE, through FAITH in His ability. It means that we do not worry and stress, and rely on our own efforts, instead we rest in faith as we are led by the Holy Spirit.
PRAYER
Father, I enter into REST, in Jesus Name! I trust You and I am confident that as I am led by the Holy Spirit, You will cause all things to work together for my good in Christ Jesus.
I put away worry, I put away stress and I put away self reliance and I place my trust in Jesus!
